Re: RPG suggestions.....

I've been playing EQ for about 2 years now & The thing I love the most about it besides that it's expanding just about every year to keep the game fresh is the fact that you interact with real people world wide. Having been an avid D&D player when I was younger I really enjoy the game, & you don't have to wait for eveyone else to show up just turn it on & go.

I had Balder's Gate for the computer..that was pretty fun.

how is that world of warcraft anyway? I'm familiar wtih warcraft 2 adn 3 and those were quite fun..but not really RPGs. at all. Is it like those at all...where you build kingdoms and strongholds and stuff?

        Re: RPG suggestions.....

World of Warcraft is not really anything like the previous Warcraft games, it's more like EverQuest. I played in the alpha and part of the beta and it seemed very promising but I don't have time for games these days.

GTA: San Andreas - you have to interrupt the fun to feed the guy and build up his stats just like in an RPG

                ff7, ff6 (japanese, american 3) same with Japanese 4, american 2.

Chrono Trigger. Lemme think, I've got like 70 PS1 and 30 PS2 games and can't think of any of them.

The Max Payne series aren't RPGs per se, but they are still very entertaining. The Baldurs Gate games were only good on computer IMHO.

Persona, old old PS1 game, Suikoden 1 2 or 3. Orge Battle (limited edition PS1 game), damn it all to hell, I can't think of more.

SUIKODEN III! Final Fantasy X is really good too. It is very easy IMO. FFX-2 is good, but it just was not the same as FFX. Otherwise you can play any PSone rpg on PS2. If you are going to go that route, get your hands on all the Final Fantasies (FF8 being the best) and Chrono Trigger. Also check out Vandal Hearts (amazing) Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire III, and Suikoden 1 and 2. Good Luck!

                    Re: RPG suggestions.....

Breath of Fire is a good call, but saying 8 is better than 7, that's a long stretch there, and I don't agree.

ffx-2 was like Charlies Angels...only gayer if it could happen. What was that expression I heard, FFX2, like the movie, only less interactive.

I didn't like X much, you had some cuban black hawain latin something (not sure exactly where he's modeled from) guy, some preppy blitzball guy, some wierdo ass bondage chick, some freaky eyed bitch, I mean, you had an entorouge of freaks together, and then that drunk guy, I mean come on! These guys wouldn't be hanging out. Maybe Blitzboy, and the hawain guy, and the 2 girls, and what was that other woman going to do...be super preppy and naive? Barf on that game, and X2. (IMHO)

                      Re: RPG suggestions.....

For PSOne my favs were Final Fantasy VII and Suikoden 1 & 2. FF VII is an amazing game and my personal favorite of all RPGs. Breath of Fire III dragged on IMHO, and Legend of Dragoon was just average. Final Fantasy VIII was very boring for me (story was lame IMO) and Final Fantasy IX was enjoyable, but not too memorable. Final Fantasy Tactics is not a true RPG but is still great. If you are into darker stories, pick up Xenogears.

For PS2, I would go with Suikoden 3 (haven't played through it yet, but pretty good word of mouth) or Final Fantasy X (best since VII, better than I thought it would be).

I play RPGs for the story elements. I have not tried to play MMORPGs because they seem less based on story and more dependent on interaction and building up characters (someone please feel free to enlighten me about them).

Let us know what you decide to get

How about Deus Ex? I've only ever played it on a PC, but it's brilliant. I'm pretty sure that it and DE2 are available on the PS2.
