Re: a life/college/parents kind of question

You can fuckin' rule too, just decide in your mind that you can, and when you convice yourself, f*ck everyone else. Your dreams are yours and yours alone. Follow them, and you will live the life complete. Ignore them and you will live the life of regret.

Man, I wish you luck in whatever you decide to apply yourself to.

My parents never approved or helped me in any thing I ever did. Particularly music.

I left home at 16 to be out on my own. I worked with what little talent I had and over the years, I learned to play play guitar pretty well and played a ton of clubs with cover metal bands 3-4 nights a week for years during the 80s and 90s. I eeked a living off it for a while. Short if going to MIT, I my life was pretty much metal music.

Now at 40, although I own two ghetto estates (haha), I'm in a potentially unstable dead end job, with no benefits and basically no future. I can play guitar fairly well and duplicate whatever I hear for the most part. Spent my whole life grooming myself for that, what I got out of it well, not much. Other than personal satisfaction, that and $2 will get me a large cup of coffee.

In the end, it seems I climbed the wrong mountain...

Follow your dreams as much as you can, but have a backup plan man... Get a good education. Please...

I'll die happily on the mountain I have climbed. If I have nothing but my integrity to keep me warm, I will persevere.

My goal is to retire on the revenues from the book I will write when my adventures are over. The title? "The Life You Were Too Much of a Bitch to Lead". Best-seller.

Of course the bitch thing wasn't pointed at you!! It wasn't pointed at anyone besides myself. It would be about the life I would have lead had I followed what everyone had told me to do in my life. Cleve, I'm not saying that you shouldn't have an alternate source of income to finance that most important thing in your life, your family. But tell me that I'll die penniless clutching my un-finished manuscript, and my awnser is WILL BE this: I told you I could. What you do with your life is totally your own choice, and if I die penniless an naked, how was I fuckin' born? Penniless and naked. How do we all die? Penniless and naked. Do you really believe that your bank statment carries over into the afterlife?

I sure won't have any bank statement worth worrying about to follow me to the after life. I just REALLLLLY hope my second mortage doesn't follow me...

                        Now that, would suck...

Cleve, I'd rather be in your shoes and KNOW that I had tried than be in someone else's shoes and just wished that I had.

unfortunately, i know people who believe it could and hope that money would carry over to the afterlife. i strive to be from that idea and ego. though, something tells me i won;t have to worry about it. at least, i hope not anyways!

Please do keep my quotations in a book. I used to for years, but it got lost. Also quoute Cleve, because his experience is just as valid as mine.
