• Jazz/Blues cd suggestions

Ok guys, I have an urge to delve into new musical territory. Aside from the obvious (Eric Johnson, SRV, Danny Gatton, Clapton, etc), give me some good artists to check out.

When I think Jazz, I think Al DiMeola. His Elegant Gypsy album is a great Spanish style jazz.

some blues:
Albert King
John Lee Hooker
Muddy Waters
John Mayall
Buddy Guy

Jazz (I don't listen to much guitar oriented jazz):
Duke Ellington
Thelonius Monk
Dizzy Gillespie
Kenny Burrell <--- very good guitar work
Wes Montgomery
Dave Brubeck
Stan Getz

Bebel Gilberto
Diana Krall
Norah Jones

Stanley Jordan....anything he has released for jazz/fusion

For blues, a couple of local bands...Roomful of Blues, and Young Neal and the Vipers..Neal's work may be hard to find, but he did Stevie better than Stevie at times...

Fuckin' John Pizzarelli. This guy is the Man!
if you're into Brazilian bossa nova jazz (real smooth stuff), you can check out "Bossa Nova".

But he Shreds on "Live At Birdland". Seriously, he's a motherfucker, he's so good. his phrasing's awesome, and he scat sings behind all his amazing solos.

Johnny Winter. My favorite is Guitar Slinger, from 1984. It has some really great solos and some great single note blues riffs. One solo in particular reaches out of the speakers and rips your head cleanly off.............
