Yesterday was the first practice of the new band I'm in, DUDEFUCKIN'HELLYEAH! I play guitar, Jordan from Anubis Rising/Pinata Lazer plays the other guitar, and Alex from Anubis Rising/Pinata Lazer plays drums. The chemistry between me and Alex is great, and Jordan learned the parts I wrote really quickly, and he has some cool Suffo-style stuff that we're gonna work on next week. The stuff I wrote is pretty all over the place, starting with a feedback/doom trance intro, followed immediately by a very fast/technical death metal blast beat part, then it gets wild. Two-handed tapping, 17 fret slides, skank beats, you name it. I am really excited about this project, and so are the other guys. I'll be sure and keep you up to speed as to what we're doing.

Re: First band practice yesterday...
We have a vocalist who has agreed, but until we get songs for him to sing over, and lyrics for him to sing, he's just listening. He was there yesterday, since he lives where we practice, but he didn't give us much input besides that he really liked it. We have a few bass players in mind. One of the old bass players from Exhumed just moved down here, we might ask him if this other guy says no.

That's great news Ace! Hepefully the singer was just absorbing the music and will think of some cool lyrics or vocals later. Some guys can do that off the cuff but others have to mull it over; as long as they canput out some good material in a decent timeframe, it's good. I'm sure you'll attract a good bassist quickly if the music is jelling so well. Kick maximum ass! Ron is the MAN!!!!

Yes, the name is DUDEFUCKIN'HELLYEAH!
With the exclamation point. The drummer is in film school, and he is a HUGE gore film fan, like myself. We plan on putting out a video to top Necrophagia's Through the Eyes of the Dead. We already took the picture for our first album cover last night. It wasn't planned, but something so gnarly happened, and the drummer managed to get a picture of it!! I can't tell what it was, since that would spoil the effect.

oh yeah the fetuses ...yeah I keep a few in my gig bag ...you never know when you may need one in a pinch..
I like to throw them out into the audience like guitar pics.. They are also high on protein and the stem cells are supposed to be good for you ...
I get my fetuses at the corner Arab store...imported from Iraq...you have to wash the sand off of them before you eat them though..
Good luck with the DUDEFUCKIN"HELLYA...wow , that's easy to remember. Anubis Rising sounds very familiar ..I've seen that name around before."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

Re: First band practice yesterday...
Anubis Rising is a really unique band. Kind of Neurosis-y stoner/doom with screeched black metal style vocals(the good kind). They have a medium sized, but VERY devout fan base. They are a local band that people will drive for hours to see.

Kick ass, Ace. Good luck with this band. I look forward to hearing some material. Do NOT let Death Metal die!
Me, I'm still defining my style. It has been a slow process, which is finally starting to pick up some speed. Eventually I'll need to start looking for some session musicians, and possibly performing musicians. My style is basically Death/Black metal, but with classically trained vocals. It's proving very difficult to get that brutal atmosphere without any screaming and growling. I'm loving it, though.

Re: First band practice yesterday...
Check out some Borknagar if you want classicaly-trained vocals mixed with black/death metal. I really liked them, actually.
As far as my style goes, I'd call it somewhat death metal. The other guitar player writes pretty straight ahead death metal from what he's played for me. I play death metal, but I get crazy in there too. 17 fret slides, two-handed tapping, droning doom-trance parts. I have ADD, and since I think a new thought every eight seconds, I change my music up accordingly. I am not worried about death metal dying. There are more death metal bands today than there ever have been. Too many of them sound the same, I think. I like them all, but it's time someone did something new.

Lucky Bastard. I often wish I was more like that. I'm usually too defined and perfectionistic (spl? Hell, is that even a word?), like a Black Metaller.
