Man, this is just a nightmare. I saw it on the news when I got up and could not beleive Dime was actually gone. And to be taken out while you are playing your guitar and entertaining people. What a f@#kin' piece of shit that guy was, I' also glad he's dead, props to the cop that shot him.

No idea how Vinnie is going to fare... Could you imagine seeing your brother gunned down right in front of you while you were playing a show... Zakk it will hurt indeed but poor Vinnie Paul

I can see a Vinnie and Zakk band in the future to commemorate Dime.

Darrel was really close to his brother. I personally doubt we'll see Vinnie in music again.

OK, I was taking a stab in the dark at it. I have a couple of Pantera CDs, but I never really got to "know" them.

Zakk has a tribute on his personal site although BLS doesn't

If Vinny did anything I would imagine it would be with Zakk but I imagine that is a long way off if ever... Granted music is in his blood and once his head clears he knows that is what Dime would have wanted him to do to get back out there and tear the metal scene up

What a way to go. I thought the recent hunter shooting in nearby Wisc was tragic, but this really blew me away when I saw what looked like a thumb of Dime and "guitarist dead". Just the night before they mentioned a shooting in a club in Ohio and thought of checking the link, but I thought I'd wait until the next AM.

It is a shame people come unglued and do stuff like this.
Say what you want.. Darrell was a pro at what he did and went down as such. RIP man.

At first i thought Vinnie would never return to the stage, but that vinnie/zakk sounds remotely possible in a few yrs or so.

I remember reading about that CD Dime, Zakk and Kerry King wanted to produce. That would have been something special.

I still cant get over the fact that its happened, ive had all the cds playing all day admiring the power grooves, then i remember whats happened. Its awful. He was the reason behind me picking up guitar, and i dont think anyone will ever replace his position of importance in my life when it comes influences. I couldn't imagine how his family, friends and the fans present at the gig are feeling. My thoughts are with them.

James Niggemeyer is a true hero.

There a couple of tributes ive found are at
www.anthrax.com,
www.shadowsfallrocks.com,
www.earache.com aswell as the ones mentioned.

RIP bro. xx

This thread started life as a statement of Dime being killed..somewhere along the line it also morphed into a tribute to the officer as well. I'm glad the officer acted as he did to save the lives of others, but I do not see any issue of disrespect occuring here. It was his job, what he was trained to do and he did it well.
