Wow... can't believe all this...I bud of mine that saw Pantera w/ me back in 91'(FastLane- Asbury Park, NJ) called me today at work to tell me the news. What a tragedy. The music world has lost one of it's greatest talents, IMHO. I really don't know what else to say....R.I.P. bro....

The last couple funerals I went to I cranked
"Cemetery Gates" going to the burial. I don't headbang going there, but reflect on the song itself.

I got the phone call last night. My friend Jim, the executive producer of L.A. Metal, was working with the guys on Rock Line. He gave me a call in the middle of South Park. I went through a series of emotions. At first I was just in shock. Next my stomach started acting up. Like I could vomit out what goes into my brain the same way I could what goes into my stomach. I barely slept last night, and I've been on the phone with friends gathering mourning together.

As a guitar player and guitar tech who stands onstage, this hits too close to home for me. I was touring the same venues in April as Damageplan was, and just about everywhere we went there was either a flyer for the band because they were coming through, or a few green X's marked onstage. One said Pat, one said BOBZILLA, and one said Dimebag. I actually met Pat, the singer, at a pizza place in Minneapolis(Pizza Luce behind the Quest). I talked to him and the singer from Hatebreed and asked how the tour was going and stuff.

Just the other day I was talking on the phone with my friend from the Rock City News and Pit Magazine. I was telling him about my new band. He asked me if I was nervous. I said "What's the worst thing that can happen in life? You die. Everyone dies sometime. And it's usually not because you fukk up onstage". Weird man, weird.

Ditto on this as well as most of what everone wrote today. I wanted to see the DamagePlan/Haunted/Shadows Fall over Thanksgiving but the dates didn't work out with my travel dates...I don't know, I might even be more bummed had I seen them play recently, but it can't be much worse than this, ya know? I'm just reflecting on the good times had while seeing Pantera thru the years and all those future years lost. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
This weekend I'll be getting some Seagrams 7 and making some Black-toothed grins as tribute. R.I.P., Dime.

<font color="yellow">It's nice to see people paying their respects to a musician that was important to a lot of people. With this bit of perspective it would be nice if everyone thought for a minute how we sometimes give other musicians very little respect (before going back to the "Yngwie is fat" or the over the top "Eddie is a drunk" threads). If you make your living making music and touring it shouldn't take getting shot for people to cut you a break. </font>
