It sounds as tho Phil planted the seed for this to happen and that is the truly sad thing that a few comments fueled this into a senseless act of rage snuffing out innocent lives.

[/ QUOTE ]

What'd he say?

[/ QUOTE ]

He appeared on the cover in a Magazine called metal hammer, holding a knife with dimebag's image on it, and basically talked about he could kill him.

That seems way extreme. I would need to actually hear and see that coming from Phil's mouth. Don't believe all you read folks.... Even here on the JCF.

I began listening to Pantera when I was in grade school...Through HS, college, and now I'm in the working world and I still love Pantera. Dime was one of the last great metal guitarists...I've been listening to Cowboys since yesterday and won't take it out of the car. My g/f was asking me all day yesterday if something else was the matter...she also doesn't understand how I can be so upset about someone I've only met a couple times. But he was one of the coolest guys I've met...really down to earth and genuine...him and Vinnie! I slammed a few beers for him last night after work. Keep the Metal alive Darell!

He would attack me, vocally. And just knowing that he was so much smaller than me I could kill him like a fuckin' piece of vapor, you know, he would turn into vapour — his chin would, at least, if I fuckin' smacked it. And he knows that. The world should know that. So physically, of course, he deserves to be beaten severely.

Sad article, but it happens all the time. Words get slung around in anger. Looks like Phil had enough s**t and that was it, but, that's also his side of the story. I'm sure there's another side, but regardless, as for it fueling Gale to do what he did, I think he was just a nut-case needing an excuse.

Phils comments were no more harsher than say , the DLRoth-VanHalen circus, or countless number of bands who break up and run at the mouth (until their reunion of course .......(Eagles)).

No blame to Phil. As matter of fact, I feel for him, cause he has to live with those words and there has to be great memories of when they were on top and having fun, not just the anger.

I´ve spent a while letting this sink in, and I´m listening to "Floods" as I write these words.....

This is very tragic for all involved, Family, Friends and fans. I knew Dime a bit, had the honor of meeting him on 3 or 4 occasions. He was one of the nicest, most down to earth people I´ve ever met, period. I was really looking forward to getting the chance to see/ meet him again at NAMM on my vacation....

Together with Satch, he´s the only person I ever considered a personal guitar hero, and he´s the one out of the two that made me want to play guitar as well (I played bass exclusively at the time). I´ve never even looked at another guitarist´s "signature" axe as a purchase, but an old Lightning-bolt ML I´ve been looking for, or I would have settled for one of Dean´s "reissues"... Yeah, I´d say he´s the reason I´m here to a good extent, and for that and the experienced I had with him I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

I feel sorry for all involved, and wish all the best of luck. I pray that all will make it through this, for the better.

Rest In Peace, Dime. You´ll cast a shadow, Cowboy.

Hey I agree 100% and don't think for a second that Phil meant it literaly, but it always takes one crazy f*ck to turn around and take things too far.

I'm not blaming Phil directly, Nathan Gale murdered Dime and it may never be known just what drove the guy to this point. We can go back and speculate on Ozzys courtcase with suicide solution, or Priests, or people blaming Marilyn Manson for Columbine..I don't even go down that road.

But personally, if I were in Phils shoes, I'd be feeling like a piece of sh!t. Whether he has a conscience or a care to be that way is his matter and whatever his belief system is in life. That little disclaimer of how it is criminal is chilling that he removes himself from any possible liability. Who knows, maybe the guy is laughing to himself.
I don't know, it is just specualtion,.. and that is my disclaimer. Anyway you slice it, it is tragic and will hopefully shape up the security onstage and at the events to better level, even then, you still are not protected from a sniper type of killing. It is something that has happened before, just not with someone who held so much popularity and influence. In the 'guitar hero' realm at least.

Cheese n' rice, man! I wasn't a big Pantera fan but some of their songs were awesome. THIS guy... sheesh! Someone stick a pin in his head so the swelling will go down. What a frickin ego maniac. We love ourselves don't we? Guess he's God's gift to metal. Putz...........

It turns out that Nathan Gale had been weird about Pantera for years. He showed up at a friend's band rehersal with lyrics that he said were his own, but they were in fact Pantera lyrics. He accused them of stealing his lyrics and his identity. This was several YEARS ago, and his friends distanced themselves from him after that. I think the break-up of Pantera might have been a factor, but I don't think Phil planted the crazy seed in that low underserving of life mutherfucker's head.
