• Re: Phil Anselmo Not Welcome @ Dimebag\'s Funeral

right or wrong, what's been said or has not been said, i hope i die with nothing but friends and family and no stupid grudges in attendance. phil wanted to be there, but respected the family wishes. he will make his peace with them all.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

wow, this thread has brought out the depth and emotion of everyone in it. Its a change from khaler vs floyd vs duncan vs emg.

Mental illness is extremely common. It is a fact that most people will face it in theyre lives, themselves or through others. The support of my family and friends got me through all of the hardtimes with ocd fueled depression. Now its just plain old ocd and anxiety. Managable to a point, and definitely not the end of the world. But I've been to the bottom enough to realise it always gets deeper, and returns, deeper still. So thats why I gotta shoutout to tommy, I dont know you but from the posts of you and others, your a talented funny guy. Blind faith from a stranger can mean a whole lot, it has to me in the past.

If theres anything you can take away from this, its that when people are diagnosed with ANY illness, support cannot be overdone. Reach out, make that small effort, it heals worlds. I'm an old fashioned blokey aussie and it feels totally gay to do so, but I understand the flip side, and I'll take a hit for the greater good.

Never been a fan of Flynn or MH, but these are some great words. I think he covered about everything.

just a testament to why people asked me why i was destroyed by the death of "just a guitar player". just a testament to when i always say that he wasn't just an amazing guitar player. Sure, we'll all miss his amazing music, but the world will miss Dime, The Man, the amazing human being. Lord, i wish i could've met the guy. Out of the countless people i've encountered who's met him, i've never heard short of an amzing story about one amazing dude. Well, when i pass on in life, i'll make a point to say hi to Dime in the pearly gates!

did i mention how amazing he is?

Yeah, Flynn's statement was a good read. I always thought the 1st 2 MH records had a Pantera-vibe to them, especially with the heavy-groove songs.

He was one of the few that got to live the dream, to make it real, to actually be larger than life when in the element. RIP.

There is a short video(20minutes?)Pantera Live at Ozzfest from 2000 where Zakk came on stage with his Dog and starts playing on Dime's guitar and Dime gives Zakk a beer.
Very cool one.
