Re: Here come the bible thumpers..............

See, this is why "Christians" and "Conservatives" too in some ways, end up getting tarred with the same brush by us seculars. It's the same with any identifiable group. You get one or two complete idiots who label themselves Christian, or whatever, and then proceed to spout that kind of garbage, truly showing what human scum they really are.

While personally, I think religion itself, and the whole concept of a supreme being is ludicrous, I really believe that there are a lot of Christians who are good people, and who are not judgemental, hypocritical, and generally a bunch of inbred, intellectually inferior mongoloids. Okay, maybe a few at least.

This guy needs a good old fashioned stabbing!

Man, that's just wrong. He drank/partied/took drugs, and to be serious for a moment, I can understand why otheres may consider metal 'noise', but from all I've heard, he was such a good guy. Just watch that tribute video that was posted, and right at the beginning, he was high-fiving all those kids, the guy always had time for fans and people who looked up to him. To be honest, I just think it's shallow to judge him by his 'image' from a biased religious point of view. Anyone can look how they look, and have any job they have, but that is no way any means to judge somebody, this guy should be ashamed.

As a christian, we should never be "happy" when someone dies. This article seems to have a "happy" theme to it (he is happy dime is gone because he did not like dime)We (christians) have no right to judge anyone, and I apologize if this dude offended some of you. I do not like what he wrote AT ALL. I think the guy is.. well it has been said already. Before he can go and say things about other people, he needs to seriously re-examine himself. RIP Dime.

I managed to read two paragraphs, then got pissed. Then I went back a tried to decipher more. And his point is?
He likes Classical better than metal or rap and therefore he's a better person because of it and that he has more to contribute to 'society' because he appreciates its social value more.
I look at this and it really don't see it as bible thumping, if anything hes just stereotyping himself as the man who prays to God that he's glad hes not like that other sinner who has repented, but again I am neither mans judge ultimately and I should not fall into his the trap of judging him either. My judgment of his statement is not going to enlighten him further since he has already turned his nose up at this part of society as 'degenerates'
I agree with Gold Moon Soloist on a Christian level, but there again, we go typcasting. Many people died that night, some trying to save others. To act like it is a 'good riddance' attitude is no better than the marine who shoots severely wounded 'suspected terrorist' in a mosque, or the suicide bomber that blows up a military unit taht he thinks opposes his ideals.

In contrast, I see this as how people in America look at the Palestinians, or the people on the streets of Iraq, and they at us.

I think Mustaine probably said it best when he said "society will looks at this and think-this is metal. This isn't metal, it is a random isolated act"

It's interesting that you call him a 'bible thumper'
He's not even that, I see this as nothing more than some educated snob intellectual waxing his mental carrot trying to find answers as to why something this terrible happened, but doing it in a very disrespectful way.

I agree with you to a point. The part where I disagree with you is about him trying to find answers. I don't think he has a clue. Some people can read all the books in the world and still be as dumb as a stump.

In regards to spamming the guy, I'd say leave him be. Attention is what he wants. The more garbage you send him, the bigger his woody gets because it confirms that you are reading his dreck.

I read the whole thing. meh. The guy has his opinion and he's welcome to it.

What I find ironic is that he spouts how he wants "the very best form of government, the very best of civilizations, the very best educational system, the very best literature and art, the very best music, the very best way of life." Maybe that's why apparently chooses to live in Germany. Maybe that's why he feels so smug about a society that perpetuates such a "soul-deadening culture of death, ugliness, depravity and inhumanity".

                Whatever.

I agree, a seeing man can still be blind.
I agree on your point of spamming him..this type of person knows what he has written is going to be inflammatory. It would probably only lend support to his view of those he seeks to catagorize. Not to mention, they probably have some sophisticated spam filters ready handle any anticipated onslaught.

Re: Here come the bible thumpers..............

I saw that link on the Dean forum. Let me try to make a few things clear on this topic...as they should be...

I am a Christian, I believe that Jesus died for me because I fall short of the standard set by God. God knew this, that's why he sent Jesus to die for us. It's all part of the plan. Please PM me and I would be honored to share this with you.

I was a fan of Dime, I had the albums, I went to the shows, I was excited about Damageplan, even though it wasn't all I wanted it to be. Pantera kind of lost me right around the time "Far Beyond Driven" came out. I wanted more of "Cowboys From Hell". I still bought the albums and I saw them for the last time in Dallas on the "Southern Trendkill" tour.

I had the opportunity to meet Dime at a Judas Priest concert back in '92. He was without a doubt, one of nicest, most sincere people I have ever met, period. I have read countless interviews with him. His "genuiness" came across even in print. Not only was he a star, but he was a fan, and understood what it was like to be a fan.

In interviews, he has been quoted as saying he has never tried drugs. Never tried cocaine, never tried speed, never tried heroin. He said it grossed him out that people would do that to themselves. While I have never read that he denied smoking weed, I have read other people comment that it was ironic that he went by Dimbag, as they could never recall him smoking the stuff.

I have reflected on his passing many time since last week. I have found myself fighting back tears countless times. It's tragic, and it makes no sense.

As a Christian, I prayed that at some point in his life, Dime acknowleged Jesus Christ and what he did for him. That's as far as I can take it. To commment any further about someones life and to judge it according to God's standard is above us. The guy brought lots of joy to a lot of people, and you can't take that away.

                        Thanks,

Re: Here come the bible thumpers..............

I guess I agree with Tom. The auther never mentions "the Bible"...He only mentions the "10 commandments", and "the laws of the land". Both include laws of not killing other people.

If the auther were truely a "Bible Thumper" -or- a "Christian", he would follow Christ, and his teachings. Which include forgiveness, understanding, and love for one another...No matter who they are. And, if the auther were truly concerned about the metal heads out there that followed Dimebag (and other artists), he would try to help them in a different way than by ridacule... The auther seems happy that Dime, and the others are dead. It seems to me that he just thinks he is better than the "sub-culture" that Dime was a part of. But then again, it's not my place to judge him, or Dime.

Jesus didnt hang out with the "Elite" of his day. He hung out with the misfits and rejects of society. In the end it pissed off the elite enough to hang him on a cross, because he taught them (the elite) that they were just as guilty.

There was another idiot in Germany that wanted a "Master Race" of like minded individuals. This former tyrant went about trying to rid the world of a group that he also felt was not worthy of breathing the same air as him. The religion I learned about (christianity) preached tolerance and understanding of others not hate because someone did not view something the same way. He's a tool and I can't believe I just wasted two minutes on him.

                              Well said Pat, amen.

There were alot of good people who died that night trying to save Darrell in very selfless acts, he totally disrespects them as well.

I am about as German as you can get, just born in this country, on this soil raised in this society.
Thew guy wants to point the finger and tell society to stand up and get straight, look at the problem, how can we uproot it.. yet, the very place he stands on started two World Wars. I won't get into a religious argument, it is up to a much higher power than myself to decide where one stands or fall once on the other side of the fence. I just hope the same as Pat, that Darrell recognized Christ in his heart.
