audio snake questions and recommendations - please

I am going to buy a 16 channel audio snake. I have started to look into it and wonder if anyone here can recommend any brands. I will probably buy a used on off eBay. I have notice some brand names I am not familiar with like EWI and Whirlwind. Are these any good? decent quality?

I am familiar with names like Horizon, Pro Co, CBI and Carvin and know these are generally pretty good cables, so I imagine their snakes would be decent too.

Is there any advantages or disadvantages to getting a reel system snake over a conventional snake?

Can you recommend any brands to buy or brands I should NOT buy??
