That's terrible, RIP all those killed, and my thoughts are with the friends or families who weren't there, or those who did manage to survive, truly terrible.

yeah, it is amazing the destruction of the Tsunami's had on tourist areas of Thailand. One minute you're laying on the beach in the sun, the next, swept out to sea & food for bottom feeders. This could be one that sets off more quake activity with other plates in different geographic areas.

Another example of the power of just one the many natural forces that are constantly shaping and re-shaping our planet.

Global weather changes and events are going to become even bigger news moving forward in 2005.

A guy and girl I work with just went over there to get married. (Her family lives in Phuket.)

                God, I hope they're okay.

Damn, that sucks. When nature decides to act up it happens in a big way. Hope those countries can get back on their feet economically too, and for those lost, RIP

                        Re: Terrible disaster in Asia

I read it on MSN and it was said that the 8.9 earthquake, biggest in 40 years, actually disrupted the rotation of the Earth. Looks like the death toll is 10,000 and only going to rise, with so many villages on Sumatra out of communication. God rest all their souls, what a way to go.This kind of thing can happen to any of us, anytime, from one natural disaster or another. It's a sobering thought.

Truly awful. Last I heard, the death toll was up to a little over 10,200.
