Re: Bittersweet News
Em,
My wifes Grandma lived with us for several months before going into Hospice.(For those of you who have never experienced Hospice...the place is a Godsend). My wife is an RN, so it just made sense for Grandma to stay with us. She passed away less than a day after leaving my house for Hospice. She wasnt my "blood" relative, but I loved her as much as is possible. I delivered her eulogy with a broken heart. I gotta say, Christmas was kinda tough this year. It was Grandma's favorite time of year.
Our thoughts & prayers go out for you Em.>>--HuntinDoug-->

Re: Bittersweet News
Em, Sorry to hear about your loss. YOu and y7our family will be in out prayers. I know that in the near future I am going to be going through the same thing you are now. My gram is 98 now and raised me when I was a child. I have a much stronger bond with her than my mom. I can only imagine how that is going to feel.

Re: Bittersweet News
Ah, Em, I'm so sorry for your loss. It always hurts, even if you expect it, the moment is unexpected. I'm happy for her that your mother was with her, that's about the most beautiful way to go. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Give your mother as much special attention s you can, even if it's phone calls, emails, etc... This would be hardest on her I believe. She's been the closest to the situation, probably has mixed feelings of pain, relief and guilt, and also her mission of the last long time is now over. She could feel adrift along with everything else.Forgive me, I don't know your mother or family, these just seem to be normal emotions you'd feel in this situation. It's important to cherish those we still have as well as those who've passed to a better place.May your grandmother rest in peace, and may your family find peace in knowing she is at peace. RichRon is the MAN!!!!

Re: Bittersweet News
Hi guys. I'm home.
Went out to a nice Italian place to celebrate Grandma! You could always count on her for piles and piles of good food and she would want everyone smiling and eating when thinking about her.
Thank You SO much for all your kind words and thoughts and hugs, I know you mean them. It makes me smile.
I tried to call Mom, she's not answering her phone and I didn't expect her to. She's like me and hides away until she feels like coming back out.
Her job is not over... she is one determined lady and I know she will want to provide care to my other two grandparents when they need it. Which will be soon. Honestly, I hope that she lets a good hospice do that... I worry about her. She can't do this anymore.
Anyway... thanks.
Em

Re: Bittersweet News
Em, I lost both of my grandmothers. My mom's mother last year and a part of my heart almost three years ago when my dad's mom passed.
I cried on Christmas thinking of my Grandma Lena...she truly loved me ...she lived with us all of our lives and was close as my parents are to me. To her I could do NO wrong ...I could kill the pope and she would say "well he probaly deserved it"..I will always miss her and I think of her always..she was a part of me...and I am what I am because of her.
I'm sorry Em ..truly sorry..
I know my grandma is not in a "better place"...but she is in my heart until I die.
Take Care Em...your a strong person and your family has my respect for caring for her with all the care and love possible....and that is a very hard thing to do....my parents did that as well and I'll be there for them when that time comes.
I saw my Grandma leave this world while holding her hand. She looked like a light bulb that just burned out ...and then she was gone.
Take care of you and yours..
