• Favorite Music Downloading Program

Basically, what works well and has plenty of users logged in at all times so you can easily find obscure stuff.

I've been using WinMX for years and it works but not as well as it did a couple years ago.

I have used Kazaa Lite for the past couple years, but only have used it sporadically. The "Lite" supposedly means there's less ads and spyware compared to the regular version, at least that what my computer-savvy friend tells me. I used it recently to download a bunch of Pantera vids, so it still works.

Ehm ... Emule on Razorback 2 server, search set to Global ... There's app. 900k users on R2, if you don't find anything for your taste there, then it doesn't exist ...

Also, SoulSeek is very common for alternative, postrock and postmetal ...

I basically download post- and alter things since I'm not into metal any more. You can surely find plenty of exotic stuff there.

Should I write a tutorial for Emule? If admins allow me, I'll do it ...

Kazza is way too old and many mp3s you donwload are unlistenable.
Bidcomet 0.56 is the best program and some torrent search websites to search all you need by albums.
I know some websites dedicated to Metal stuff including all kind of bootlegs, albums and videos.

I download just about everything I need and couple days ago I downloaded complete Metallica studio/live albums as 1 file and 12 albums of Stratovarius as 1 file.
Now I am downloading 14 Iron Maiden albums ,Children od Bodom DVD EP and 29 Bon Jovi albums.

Re: Favorite Music Downloading Program

I've been using torrents for a little while now and they seem kinda slow, although you can get some wicked huge files like Toru is talking about. Maybe it's the websites that I get my torrents from. While we're on the subject, what are some good torrent websites that you guys get fast downloads from?

Re: Favorite Music Downloading Program

When you download, you have to make sure there are enough people seeding the files because many older albums are not popular for downloading and not many people download/upload.
How fast you can download is about how many people are giving these files open for people to download and of course your internet connection has a lot to do.

There are many Torrent search websites but there are only few good.
Suprnova was the best until they shut down a week ago.
http://www.kerrazy-torrents.com is a great site for some metal stuff.
Forum style and easy to check.
You have to sign up but there are many good members willing to share files.
The easiest one to find many torrents including teh status of files is http://www.torrentspy.com/latest.asp
Go to directory, you will find Music and categories of Music as well.
There are also categories for games and movies too.
I just downloadded "The Incredibles" someone taped at a theater.

Whoever don't know how to use must download Bidcomet 0.56 first to be able to download torrent files.
If you have a faster connection,an album can be downloaded in an hour and some larger files could take up to several days like Dream Theater Live at Budokan DVD was the largest I downloaded and took a week...

Re: Favorite Music Downloading Program

I have never tried that one but I can imagine it should work.
Why not to doanload one of these torrent files from torrentspy.com and see if the program opnes up the file.

by far and long shot, DC++
you need to have a few Gb shared to get into the best hubs though...but once you're there you'll never look back
If you have SDSL (or comparable symmetric up/down speed) then bit torrents are good too...but they're a bit harder to come by these days, but shouldn't be a problem if you know where to look.
And remember, if you like the album, buy it!
