I have a one-track mind as far as guitar goes. The only rhythm players I know the names of are James Hetfield and Malcolm Young. Can EVH, Yngwie, and Randy count as rhythm players since they technically play the rhythm parts for their songs?

we've had this discussion/argument here before. Is this a list of guitarists whose rhythm playing you enjoy, or is it restricted to purely "rhythm guitarists"?

Because guys like Nuno & Stevie Ray are VICIOUS rhythm players, they just happen(ed) to also play lead in their bands. Does the fact they also play lead disqualify them?

Randy Rhoads (the stuff that guy could do live ad-libbing still blowns me away).

Malcom Young (you have to give it up for the KISS principal)

Scott Ian (nuff said)

What ever the heck his name is from Fear Factory (Dino? - he is tight/fast as hell)

Eric Peterson (I wore out The New Order tape back in the day)

James Hetfield (his skills and song writing WERE very impressive at one time)

Kerry King and Jeff Hannemen ( [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] how could I leave out the guys that brought us 28 minutes of pure metal agression in '86)

I usually like some Lead Guitarists as Rhythm guitar players as well.
Such as Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Michael Romeo, Michael Schenker, SRV and some others..

Adam Jones from Tool is a killer Rhythm player IMO.

I was thinking mostly of guys that are known more for rhythm, but playing lead certainly doesn't disqualify them.
