          How about the words of Christ is this juicy little tidbit..

              God attempts to destroy the human part of us, most obviously in his suppression of sex, and "Original Sin"... By splitting God into three, and having a mutilated corpse as its central icon.. Christianity becomes Anti-Messiah. (Messiah brings peace...not gore) By inventing a "Devil," God's power is subverted and challenged - inconceivable in a non-pagan, one God system.

                  I think that God and Heaven and Hell and all that sh!t were made up by man to answer cosmic questions.
                  Questions that are now being answered by Science.

                          Bill... you know how people are.
                          People want answers and most will follow blindly anyone who seems to have them.
                          The Bible was written by Man. Man cannot make up his mind, Man chases his tail and contradicts himself.
                          I believe you are absolutely right that Christianity was not designed for the thinking Man. The thinking Man is a threat, I know this. I was kicked out of a Christian religion I followed for asking too many questions. Some seem to believe that to have Faith means that you put your trust into a deity and believe that that deity will solve all your problems or save your soul. This is ridiculous. This suggests to me that one doesn't need to think for himself or be accountable for his actions.

                          There is nothing wrong with the idea of religion, I believe. Many people take comfort in it and religion can encompass many things.
                          Faith does not necessarily need to be tagged to a religion either.
                          Hazlenut coffee is my morning religion and I have faith that it will make me happy inside. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                            But I can do everything he can do for you and for being my good friends I will only charge half that..

                            you don't belive me ...OK the next time you need something from God and would require "prayer" ...don't pray to him....pray to me instead...at least I will guarantee a response....especially for %5 of your net worth...and you'll probably get the exact same results..

                              I can throw out bible quotes all day that would make the Pope go like this.... The Pope is catholic I think. To this date, I strongly disagree with most catholics. I really do not get them. I have no problems serving and trying to be humble to a higher power. I have tried living life on my own and it did not work. All those scripture lines you have posted may, at face value, seem bad. There is much more written around them than what you see. Jesus did not come to end suffering. Like I said, since I became a Christian my life has become more difficult. True, on this satanic earth, nothing has changed... At least not here. It is still as lame as messed up as ever. (infact, with MTV I think it is much much worse)If God got rid of all my problems, I would not know what to do with myself. Life would be boring. I do not expect Him to get rid of all my problems by any means. I was very skeptical about christianity at first. I actually used to study buddism very closely (which here in minnesota is a very diffuclt thing to practice). I used to sit and have conversations with people about how religion is a crutch and things like that. Now I feel like my life has a meaning. I finally have a purpose on this earth. God gave us free will knowing we would turn away from him and become icy cold black evil creatures of death. In order to truly know God, we truly have to ask for it. Most true christians would tell you, once you have accepted the Truth, it is impossible to turn away from it. If you do turn away, you never truly accepted it. When bad things happen, you can be mad about it and get really pissed at God; sometimes you can even question His existence. Or you can accept it and move on. You can say I am blind, but it is nice to feel my life finally has a purpose and I do not have to end it on this miserable little planet. Any of you who think we are blind (most "christians" are wackos), please take the time to get to know me. I will be happy to tell you how my life was before, and how it is now. And the 10% I give to God when I get paid usually comes back in many times that amount. I do not expect to get it back, nor do I get angry when I do not see any of it back. Somehow, I seem to get it back. Either way I do not care because it is not about how much money I make or me at all. You just need to have some true faith. He did not die in vain my friend. He died so we could all get to Heaven. I am finally happy with the way things are. I think I am very smart. I do get hit in the head a lot, and my grades are not what they used to be. I took logic and got a C (though I still think I got hosed on that one... I calculated everything and I should have gotten a B) Oops. I forgot. christians are not supposed to ask questions or calculate or think... we are just supposed to blindly follow. Truth is we are not as stupid and blind as most people think. More to come later... I have to get to work.

                                GMS- You have found purpose and joy in your life, and that is commendable. Everyone has their own thing they do, more power to ya.
                                I only disagree in that I think this planet is a beautiful and magickal place filled with most excellent people and creatures. I have a tremendous amount of respect for this planet we co-exist upon.
                                Some believe in a Supreme Deity, some don't. And those that believe in a higher power may not believe in the same power as the next guy. But that does not mean that anyone is an evil creature just because they don't accept a particular power.
                                I believe that all people are inherently good regardless of faith.
                                Just look around here in the JCF, you see people from all walks of life with a common interest that go out of their way to be supportive or lend a hand where they can. We certainly do not all follow the same religion, if any. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
                                And that, my friend, is a good thing.
