• Cut my thumb, gee I'm Dumb!

No playing for about a week.
My Right hand thumb got cut with a high speed grinder at work. Stupid me tryed adjusting the guard while it was running. I knew I would bite my ass one day. Lucky I had on leather gloves, it could have been worse.

Re: Cut my thumb, gee I\'m Dumb!

I don't know what came over me at the time. I'm usually
pretty safe while working with tools. Along time ago I wrote a post about my fear of knocking off a digit while
working. Makes you think. A side note though, Ever notice
on those T.V. shows like OCC or Overhauling etc..
that alot of the people don't use safety glasses while
grinding or even welding? I see alot of that lately on T.V.
Lesson learned!!

Not too bad. The best way to remedy that is to use it!! Get some goddamn blood on that fretboard you wuss!!

Put some superglue on it. It will seal it up good. It's actually what they use at the hospital a lot. Well not actual superglue, but something very close!

Try wrapping it in black electrical tape....I shit you not, it works, heals really quick and draws the soreness out. The coal miners do that, thats where I learned the trick...its better than any kinda OTC antibiodic you can use....seriously

I don't know any coal miners, but I've used electrical tape whenever I cut my hands at the race track for several years. It helps me to not make it even worse while I'm driving.

I'll try the tape first.
I usually use super glue for smaller cuts.
Thanks

the stuff they use in hospitals is the same thing-just in small packets for sanitary reasons, obviously.

I always noticed on shows like This old house or new yankee workshop, that Norm alsways has all the safety guards removed form his tools, but I guess that is so you can actually see the tool working. Anyway, it doesn't look to bad-just make sure you keep it as dry as possible. Moisture increases the healing time exponentially. I have had small cuts that take weeks to heal because at my part time job, my hands are always in the water. Hope you feel beter soon!
