Re: You know you\'re a stoner when...

well, these spiderwebs and all that stuff, would surely be enough for me...
but I didn't want to put my readings from semi-relieable sources over your experience.

this sounds so horrible, I can't get how anyone can take these riscs.
didn't your relationship to reality change everytime a bit since you met all these alternate realities?
if I saw trees turn into spiderwebs I'd not be sure at all again they really are trees...
some people only believe in what they see, but whom can I trust if not my eyes?
I think I can't imagine something like this, and well, it's scary enough to keep me away from it.

since you sound like you're out of it, what's your conclusion now? would you try again?
just curious...

Re: You know you\'re a stoner when...

Would I do LSD again? Maybe, it's been a few years since I did. A lot of people can't handle seeing trees turn into spiderwebs, and they shouldn't take LSD. It is certainly not for everyone, and doing it once WILL change your outlook on life. I would not be the person that I am today had I not taken the drugs I did, and I love who I am today. The truth is you cannot believe your eyes. That is true in every day life as well. Not everything is as it seems. LSD just magnifies that 1,000X, plus it feels like your head is opened up like a coconut and all your ideas start spilling out and coloring the "real world". My experiences with it tapped a well of creativity within me, a well that is still open and I draw water from, though the equiptment I use to dig the well is gone.

The fine print:
Not everyone can expect these results. Possible side effects include insanity, delerium, vertigo, detachment from "reality", and occasionally self-inflicted wounds. Your results may vary. Talk to your psychatrist before trying LSD.

I was never into Weed, probally only have smoked less than 10 times in my life. I liked E, and Coke though, Haven't done any of that stuff in almost a tear though, I tried shrooms for the 1st time last month and those didn't do it for me either

E and coke are not my thing. I've done PLENTY of experimenting with both to be 100% sure of that.

Re: You know you\'re a stoner when...

well, there's still a lot of questions left running thru my head, like, don't you feel misunderstood and different from these ordinary mortals whose eyes got not opened? doesn't this make you feel lone sometimes?
and how did you know your well was deep enough? weren't you curious what there still is to come?
and how deep can you dig without climbing into the hole yourself?

I'm quite sure you can't answer all that stuff, but it just made me think some way.

I'm still sure not to try for my self, I've grown up in a world were weed is called a drug, but well, I can't deny it's fascinating...

weed is the only thing I still indulge in (and that's pretty rare these days); it turns out speed was "my thing" but that was a very very bad thing. No more hallucinogens for me either these days.

I only smoke about once a week or every other week. As for the shroms, Sunday was the first time I did that and I rather enjoyed that. It makes you see things, both my guitar and carpet came alive then the snow outside was not just falling down but swirling into these cool shapes. Great stuff.

I dig shrooms, LSD, and E although I haven't dropped any in a while. "Break on through to the other side", "doors of perception", it's all about realizing that reality is what you make of it. It's an enlightening experience. I can see how first timers could be tweaked by the experience. You have to have a certain prediliction towards questioning traditional belief systems to be receptive to the experience.

Love weed, but this is the longest I've gone without. Probably 6 months. I'm kind of blessed with not having an addictive personality.

My drummer ended up hocking everything he owned and landed in prison for armed robbery cause he had to feed his crack habit. I could do crack and walk away from it and never give another thought to it. Coke does nothing for me except make me take a sh!t and grind my teefuths.

I really dig playing guitar while tripping.

[/ QUOTE ]

Even when you're straight, everything you perceive goes through the filter of your brain putting it's signature on it. There is no one "right" interpretation of what is real. Albert Einstein proved that. Your brain is the ultimate arbiter of what's real. That's why certain people are psychotic. They create a reality that doesn't mesh with what the people around them perceive and agree as real.

Tripping is not about hallucinations. The hallucinations are just an effective catalyst for achieving this awareness. The awareness is the ultimate goal of the trip.

I don't know if this is true, but there's a story about an American student studying with an Indian yogi and fed him some acid. The teacher asked him to give him some more. After he was well into his trip, he said something to the effect of Americans being so obsessed with instant gratification that they needed to invent chemicals to achieve a state of enlightenment.

In native Northern/Southern American cultures, peyote and other hallucinogens are revered.

Or you can ignore all that enlightenment mumbo/jumbo, drop and laugh your ass silly until you can't breathe watching this movie.

Re: You know you\'re a stoner when...

I haven't done LSD for a while now. I thinks it's been about 6 years or so, and about a year since I did a significant amount of shrooms. I love to smoke weed, and I'll go for a month straight getting high every night, but there's also times when I get tired of it. I don't suddenly say to myself "I gotta quit for a while", I just lose interest. I'll have a half-quarter sitting in the drawer, and I forget about it. I'll still get high every thursday when the boys come over, but other than that I'm straight.

I've had a craving lately, so I bought a half ounce and I've been high for 4 days

It's funny about flashbacks from acid though, I truly believe that it's unique for every person. I've had a couple of serious flashback in the past. I know what you're talking about Ace, about just trying to ignore the odd, insignificant little visual anomalies. But flashbacks I've had were never hallucinogenic in terms of cohesive images. I distinctly remember one day I was walking to my bass player's house, straight as an arrow, and out of the blue, the world melted. It appeared as if I was looking through a window with rain streaming down it. Fortunately, before I had time to freak out, it stopped. Definitely weird!

I'm way too hyper a person to even contemplate coke...like my little bro...he's a major head...but he's no where as wired as I am..

LSD...jezzuz ...could you imagine ME on a bad trip...that is something that nobody including me should ever have to see..

No a bad acid trip for me can't be a good thing...a man must know his limitations..otherwise he'll be running down the street naked and eventually humped on by a pile of kicking and punching cops..that would not be good....not even for the cops. I've passed out off of shrooms once. I've only done them like 4 times in my life but, that last time was a doozy. My stomach was really sore for like 2 weeks straight. That was about 5 years ago and I haven't touched them since. I have smoked weed for the last 10yrs and everyday for about the last 7. I quit 3 to 4 months ago. It really started effecting my playing. When I first started smoking, It really helped me play better but, It's like I reached a certain point and my playing started going downhill about about 6 months before I quit. My playing is slowly improving again, so I'm happy. I will still pick up a sac every now and then because I still enjoy the feeling of a good toke on a nice, sunny, summer day. There's nothing like it.
