John,

I totally agree with you. This makes me sick inside.
Thanks for the heads-up... I'll pass the link on to others I know who would feel the same way.

Re: Korean Government to Legalize Sale of Dog Meat

Here is my take on the Korea/Dog situation. I have spent some time in Korea on a couple of occasions, so here are my observations:

1. I never realized that it was illegal to sell dog meat, I was always told it was a delicacy. Everyone was initially afraid of "accidently" eating dog meat, no problem of that, it was @ $30 USD a pound at the time. I had no desire to try it.

2. Koreans don't eat the family pet. They raise dogs for food. I occasionally saw live dogs for sale that were meant for food.

I purposely tried to remain neutral on this topic because I don't see it being much different than a child that is raised on a farm having a pet calf and eating a steak. The same could be said for someone that has a pet pot-bellied pig eating bacon for breakfast.

That's my $.02

Yep. Dogs are common pets in Korea with many families owning more than 1. The closest analogy here would be our relationship with pigs.

Just goes to show how sacred we hold our own culinary taboos and at the same time can't quite appreciate those from other cultures. I'm sure a lot of Indians freak out that we love our 99 cent Whoppers.

Nah I'm way too skinny, no real muscle OR fat mass to speak of here. It would take a really good cook and a lot of seasonings/sauces to make me taste any good.

Re: Korean Government to Legalize Sale of Dog Meat

I don't believe people should eat dogs. However, if you saw the way we treat livestock in this country, we have ZERO right to tell other countries how they should treat animals. That's why I'm vegetarian.

And people can't resort to cannibalism as a diet because you will go insane. Some sort of parasite, pretty much the same idea as how cows get Mad Cow disease by eating other cows in their feed. I forget the exact details, but I'm a guitar player, not a microbiologist.

Re: Korean Government to Legalize Sale of Dog Meat

The problem I have with it is simple. Dogs are domesticated animals bred specifically as pets. Most of the breeds have been carefully created by us humans. Eating something that we basically created to be a companion is just plain wrong. When 75% of my neighborhood have pigs as pets I will stop eating pork.

pets are not meat...

if that was the case then meat is meatand to each their own..

Jeffer Dahmer didn't do a damn thing wrong...he ate his kill ...right...

no that don't make sense ...but what does.

and Ace has a good point..

Ron can you find another 99 cent whopper a little more close to home...my home...

whoppers are going for close to 3 bucks a pop over here...I think they are worth no more than a buck...there isn't a single fast food burger that is worth more than a buck..

I won't eat them unless they are a buck...which is good I guess..since they are prepared by damn dirty apes..you don't want to eat fast food in Cleveland that is something you must leave the city for , unless you like the Hershey squirts for 48 hours.. Thanks Cleve. I undertand that animals eat each other, and that's totally natural. If we were all hunters and caught our own animals in the wild, that would be fine with me. However there is NOTHING antural about commercial farming.

Ace, I think the thing about Cannibalismonly applies to taking a bite out of a raw, uncooked person. I'm sure if charbroiled at the right temperature with a nice sauce, and served with the appropriate garnishes, and a nice cabernet sauvignon, ther would be no worry of going insane.
