• Positive lyrics in metal

I had a discussion with my bandmates about the lyrics we use. They are all about sadness, anger, dishonesty etc..

I had the idea to turn that around into positive lyrics.
I know a lot of people can relate to the more "negative" lyrics, but I think you can help people better by giving them something stimulating instead of just something they recognize..

here's an example of a positive lyric:
"No you're not defeated
And soon you'll be smiling once again
Then you won't have to feel it
Let it go with the wind
Time passes us by
And know that you're aloud to cry "

"Taking each step one day at a time
You can't loose your spirit
Let live and let live forget and forgive
It's all how you see it
And just remember keep it together
Don't you know you're never alone"

What's your opinion? Are there metalbands out there with positive lyrics? Which kind of lyrics do you prefer? Is it possible for a heavy metal band to have positive lyrics?

every opinion is welcome
"I hate these filthy neutrals! With enemies, you know where they stand. But with neutrals... who knows? It sickens me!"

Actually most of the first metal bands that were accused of corrupting the minds of the youth with satanic messages were writing positive lyrics all along.

Most power metal has positive lyrics. I like them better than the angry stuff. Like when I'm listening to CoB I block out the vocals entirely. I have no idea what Alexi is saying in any of the songs.

A lot of hardcore bands have positive and empowering lyrics too. Hatebreed comes to mind, although with a name like that it's not too obvious that they are spreading the good word.

I think you should sing about rainbows and dragons.

I'm not sure I liked it the first time I heard positive metal lyrics, when it was called Stryper!

Slayer pretty much summed it up with "God Hates Us All".

Friggin uplifting and very inspirational.

Throwdown and Killswitch Engage have positive lyrics.

Yeah, but I would rather slam my nutz in a door than listen to Throwdown. Oh, and their cover of Roots they play live is just terrable.
