i still say we're miserable pricks, but i'm glad you guys think otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]See, here's my dilemma... I want to say that's not true but then I'd be insubordinate to an admin... Seriously, by and large I think y'all do a great job, andI do think y'all get thanks and kudos all the time here. It's not as if no one ever says so. It's also true that just because someone disagrees in a particular situation, that doesn't negate the kudos and appreciation. A great case is when some people were griping about a Junior getting banned for trying to sell a 85 San Dimas. Some people were giving the admins grief for that, and I spoke up in their defense because they are right to try and do something to prevent newbie ripoffs. Well, people critiqued the 100-post rule, but no one had a better idea. The admins deserved credit fortrying. All people like praise more than criticism, but we all have to deal with both in life. I try to keep it in perspective for my own sanity and to reduce stress.

              Re: Treat your admins well!

I certainly appreciate the words and I am always truly blown away when Bret posts like this. It always reminds me of WHY like enjoy working with him on these boards. He has always been one of the best people at putting things into perspective like he has in this thread.

Lemme address something that (Rich) Lerx briefly touched on as an example.

We decided to start a rule in the Classifieds governing who could use them based on post count on the board. While this had a certain type of agenda to it as Rich pointed out it also served another agenda that was never publically discussed. Members that "Break" back into the community. I'm sure that in some instances we have had members that were removed for whatever reason. This rule simply locks them out of the classifieds for a given amount of time so they cannot sneak back in and resume using the classifieds under a false name. No one knows that but it certainly serves that purpose... Yet it's a rule we have to this day been given grief over by some (usually those affected by the rule)

The point is not everything that you see in public has no meaning to it and there's usually something behind the scenes that drives it..

There are days as Admins we are allowed to get on a seamless board and just enjoy posting. Then there are days where we are working behind the scenes with new memberships, site modification, software updates, billing to dealers,TOS issues with members, password resets, post policing, dealing with complaints from members.EtcEtcETc There are a myriad of issues that go on in any given day or even night.

More times than not the members of this board are great. They respect each other, they respect us and there is no need to ever have a cross word with them. There are times such as today when things happen I will get a stray pm from a member offering encouragment and support.

Then there are the times where we have to deal with negative issues with members and a lot of time if it's a member that causes an issue, this is the member that is usually abusive behind the scenes. I've had these people tell me everything from It's none of my business, to threats to I've done nothing wrong and I'm not changing it. These are the days it becomes stressful and then you add the support of the people who like this member peeved at you for the disciplne. Some days it is a vicous cylce where as admins we just want to crawl under a rock, There are the days where both Sully and I refer to as .. "today I've had an assful"

I've become good friends with Sully based deeply upon the support system. If Sully's had an assful of the JCF then I'm the sympathetic ear.. usually it's the other way around and he's listening to me.. Simply because I care about this board, these guitars and the history of this company that build them.

This is my part of youth that I'm able to hold onto everyday by logging onto the board and viewing. I find it an honor not only to be able to meet people with similar interests but hold onto friendships that I've forged within the charvel community over the last 10 years. I love being able to communicate directly with the people that not only currently own the guitars I choose to play but the people who intially built this company and in some instance the very guitars I own .. So while there's downsides there are tremendous upsides to it..

I've had the pleasure of meeting Sully,Jeremy,Todd and not only their families but dozens of members that I would have never gotten to shake hands with. You don't know what your missing until you hang with Tommy (who is always on 10) or cramming 16 people into a 9 person van to go drinking. Having Mike Shannon personally give you an FMIC tour or having that stray person walk up to you at the NAMM show look at your badge and say hey .. I'm a member of the board.. thanks for the job you do ... those times, everyday here becomes worth it 100 times over...

Every step in life leaves a mark, some of them good and some of them bad. We are always judged by our worst days.. it seems those stand out the most. In the arena of Religion,Sexuality,Gender,Politics,Racism there are usually bad days.. not because these subjects are bad subjects but because people are so passionate about their beliefs that they are always ready to stand up for what they beleive is right. This lends itself to unintentional tension and fighting. People never set out to take this path but usually this is what happens. For this reason we tend to specifically watch this forum for the issues.. Not because we want to be censors, but because we want every person who logs onto the JCF to have a positive experience and feel like they can contribute without stepping on peoples toes, being embarassed or being ridiculled for their own beliefs..

Every JCFer has a story to tell, experience to share,or knowledge to give. These are the reasons this board exists ...to share ... lets please keep it positive..

I am thakful for all of you guys and it was great meeting Todd Kev and Jeremy and also Pat who works for the good of the board too. I thank all of you..

See Tet.. way beyond the guitars and such that's where it's at. Being able to meet and hang with great people.. People have to think your crazy flying 3000 miles to go drinking with a bunch of people that you don't really know...
