Taste of 80's music

Alright, I want to get some more cd's and I have become big into 80's style stuff. More recently I have bought some Dio and Black Sabbath (stuff that was w/o Ozzy), and Megadeth rust in peice.

What are other good stuff to get? Best Iron Maiden, and other bands?

I'm a big fan of the Scorpions and Dokken. Not so much Don Dokken but, George Lynch.

I just recently downloaded the entire Def Leppard and entire Judas Priest catalog. So far so good, and I'm kicking myself for not getting them sooner! [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] Powerful reverberous drums and slightly chorused guitars and fantastic singing... that to me is my kind of 80s music! Of course, I was only born in 1983 so I have a certain "ideal" of what the 80s probably were and the kind of bands I would have liked to have seen in those times.

Can't ask me for Maiden recommendations because I'll make you a poor man. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Even though I am diversifying my musical tastes lately, I still find myself listening to Maiden about 90% of the time for some reason... I think I might have found my all time favorite band even though I always thought it would be Priest from the very beginning!

But if you want my idea of "MY 1980s" Maiden, that would be "Somewhere In Time".

Duran Duran, Love and Rockets, the Police, Husker Du, Gary Numan, Flock of Seagulls, the Cure, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedies, Black Flag, 7Seconds, Social Distortion, Misfits, Murphys Law, Cro-Mags, Gorilla Biscuits, the Replacements, Operation Ivy....there were lots of good bands in the 80s that never get mentioned here!

Boxcar-were you a straightedge kid back in the day? Gorilla biscuits are really fun to listen to.

DOn't forget testament if you are ntot he shred thing. Alex Skolnick rules. If yopu like crazy alien stuff, try Voivod. Armored Saint is pretty good. I always enjoyed Living Colour, Faith no More, Gwar's album "Scumdogs of the Universe" is a classic. If you like more "punky" stuff, Bad religion is good. Jeez, there are tons. Oh, and Twisted Sister!!!!!!!!

Best Maiden albums were Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave & Live After Death. That was their golden era.

I second Accept, Metal Church, Judas Priest is a must, if you can check out Hanoi Rocks, Victory, and Wrathchild (they are more of a hairband despite the name), and Lizzy Borden.
