Robert Randolph and the Family Band

Has anyone heard of these guys? They were on Austin City Limits tonight and pretty much blew up the stage. Some of the best new music I've heard in a long time. This guy does stuff on the steel guitar that's incredible.

I saw him at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. He did a version of Voodoo Chile on the pedal steel that would make your jaw drop. His whole set was outstanding.

That dude absolutely shreds on the steel guitar. Plus, he plays with more energy than some rock bands I've seen. Pretty amazing stuff.

He's great! Not the kind of thing I usually get into, but he won me over real quick. It's definitely a breath of fresh air to see someone with killer talent who loves what they're doing. We caught the ACL show a while back, & my wife bought the Live at the Wetlands CD. Good stuff!

Yep... I found out about them while perusing in a little hole in the wall CD/book store in Newark, DE awhile back. One of their albums was playing and I went up to a clerk and asked who it was. I bought their "Unclassified" album. Their live stuff is my favorite... they have a good sound. [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

I seen them when they opened up for Eric Clapton last year. He is awesome. Definitley not what I expected.

Ive seen hime 3 times. Smoking, all the time, but... pretty much the same show everytime. You definitely have to appreciate 10 minute jams over the same groove.
