• Anyone here see Stephen Pearcy's Ratt??

I've seen Warren, bobby, Jizzy, Robbie and John's version but this saterday Stephen's version is coming to town for $20 a ticket, I saw What I feel is the correct version for $15 last year and the Blew the Roof off, but I've never been that big of a Pearcy fan so any feedback would be cool

I have never seen pearcy live, but all the feedback I've heard is that he cannot sing his stuff live, and has zero stage prescence. To me RATT was alway about Warren DiMartini and Robbin Crosby's 2-guitar attack though so I am biased. Pearcy's voice is a running gag on the Metal Sludge boards. Granted they are harsh, but usually give credit when it's due.It might be a fun party though, regardless of the quality of the show itself. A lot of glam groupie chicks will probably be there, so don't slam their beloved Stephen to their face and who knows what you'll come up on... of course they might be a bit old for you, but lots of those girls still look good in the spandex! Ah, spandex....

I saw Ratt back in 1984-85 when the unheard of Bon Jovi opened up for them..... Bon Jovi performed Pearcy off the stage that night. I was very disappointed to say the least. However, Robin and Warren were in great form, as always. I guess it's a crap shoot with Pearcy.

Re: Anyone here see Stephen Pearcy\'s Ratt??

Ratt was always about the music for me.

I wouldn't expect much - if you listen to the old Ratt discs closely and just focus on the vocals they're pretty weak. There is a lot of delay, reverb, and overdubs fixing those performances.

These days Stephen is probably right at home with ProTools and the Antares Auto-tune plugin.

Stephen was on Dweezil Zappa's Friday night show a few years back and he was terrible. One of the game questions involved singing and he didn't sing saying he wanted to save his voice for later in the show for his performance. I shudder to think how bad he would have sung if he had used his voice up on the game question.

As for Bon Jovi, love him or hate him the man can sing.

I caught everyone of Ratt's tours back in the 80s.
Ever single time the opening act vocally out performed Stephen. Bon Jovi, Poison, Great White, even Kix all had better performances. However if you want to see how the songs originally sounded, a little nasally with a touch of lisp check out the show.

We (my old band DIVISION 1.1) opened for Pearcy's band NITRONIC back in 2000

They (and he) sucked live....he cannot sing without severe doctoring on his voice. It's been said by Robbin in past interveiws...He always had trouble harmonizing with Pearcy on recordings, because he couldn't sign in any defined key.

I have the Stephen Pearcy "Live in Las Vegas 2004" DVD, and it's pretty bad. The guitar players really hacked up the songs, and Pearcy can't sing.

I really don't want to see his "rat". He should keep it in his pants where it belongs.

Re: Anyone here see Stephen Pearcy\'s Ratt??

I have seen both versions, and as much as it pains me to say this, Pearcy's version was better?! I love Warren DeMartini, but Jizzy Pearl is a craptacular singer and makes Pearcy sound like a Rob Halford quality singer. Warren rips, as always, but its just him and Blotz, it just plain didn't cut it. Granted, Pearcy can't sing, but that was always part of Ratt, his gravelly voice, not in any particular key! The guitar players did a decent job the night I saw them, but the lead guitarist played an Ibanez and I had a real hard time dealing with that, lol! Pearcy did have zero stage presence, as mentioned, and he wore a winter hat and sweated profusely, junkie style, the entire show. I guess I was actually disappointed with both shows, but Pearcy's version just sucked a little less. The remaining members of Ratt should work out their differences and do a true reunion tour, maybe with Tom Croucier or how about Jake E. filling Robbins spot. Michael Schenker even filled in for Robbin in the past, how about him?!

I saw Pearcy's "Rat Bastards" last year. I helped at the show so I got to see it. Not great but not bad, I enjoyed the show. One of his guitar players looked like Joe Perry and the other looked like some fat punk rocker. I had a lot of fun.
Steven was a nice guy. He is 'clean' according to his crew, but I later found out clean means no drinking and ONLY 'pot".

You mean Juan Croucier? I have not seen Jizzy live, but I like his singing in Love/Hate far better than Pearcy's in RATT. Neither is a classic singer exactly. Again, for me Warren first, then Robbin, were the whole point of RATT to me, so if Jizzy's a hack, I'd rather hear a hack replacement singer with the original ripping guitarist, than the hack original singer with a hack guitarist playing Warren's stuff. I also imagine John Corabi does a good job on rhythm and backing vocals - hell, he'd make a good lead vocalist for the band, he was great in The Scream and Motley. His only fault in Motley was not being Vince, but that was a great album anyway. I really doubt a reunion is in the cards though, no love lost between the parties and I don't think there's good enough money out there for them to get past that. Juan is probably not leaving his recording studio at any rate, and King's gone, so a REAL reunion is OOTQ.

Re: Anyone here see Stephen Pearcy\'s Ratt??

I've seen the Jizzy-Warren RATT a few times over the past few years. While Jizzy cannot hit all of the notes, he makes a galant effort. He does try to add some stage presence without hamming it up too much. Over-all, I think he's OK up front. I liked him much more in Love/Hate though...

I saw Arcade back in the mid 90's, and lets just say that his singing did nothing for me. Out of key, nasally, and not very interesting. Zero stage persona. I never saw him live w/ Ratt, so I can't really say how he sounds doing those tunes, but I can't imagine he'd be that good. Truth be told, I'm a bit turned off by his arrogant attitude regarding the Ratt days, but that's got nothing to do w/ his performance. I guess that I'd probably go myself if given the opportunity, if just to hear the Ratt tunes....

Oh contare my friend.Pearcy has contacted the other Ratt pack about re-uniting.This was just a few months ago.

ASfor pearcy live, i liked him back in the 80's .

Back in 1999 they came to colorado(ratt w/pearcy) and i swore that would be the last time i paid to see that line up.Pearcy sounded horrible.I know for a fact the man couldnt find the key to a song if he were a locksmith!

And warren looked like he wouldve rather been somwhere else.He looked seriously depressed. It really took the vibe of the show to a real low.
Ive since seen Ratt with Jizzy and Corabi and had a good time, but warred still looked bored.

I saw Ratt twice.Once in the early 80's( probably the same show Brad was talking about above)and later right before they broke up.The first show, they were very mechanical, kinda just going through the motions.Bon Jovi opened for them and wiped the stage with them. The second time was suprisingly good, very tight. Both shows Warren was awesome, very god sound and articulate.I have heard Pearcy's version on a TV show recently and it was terrible. He sounds like his voice is just shot........................
