  • Finding a guitar tech

I haven't really needed a guitar tech before, but now it looks like one of my Jacksons could use a set up. Since the only stores around me are Sam Ass and GC, I doubt I would be able to find a guy there. Should I just look in the phone book for someone around me?

Doesn't guitar center contract the tech duties out to local folks? I know the one here in Chicago does.

Here's what I did. I contacted the absolute best guitarists in my area. I'm talking about guys that know tone, know quality, and are making a damn good living at music. They put me onto two guys and both techs got great marks on all points. I've been with the same tech now for 5 years.

normally guitar techs don't have ads in the yellow pages. The best way to find one is to hear about it from someone who has gone to him/her.

Why don't you tell us where you are and maybe someone on the forum will give you a recommendation.

I'm in Cherry Hill, NJ. It's pretty much the philly area.
