first two releases were very strong, third release is out now, can this band lay claim to a modern day "super" group?

If they are still selling records 25 years from now, I'd say yes. BUt chances are that they are just a flash in the pan.

who is still selling records consistantly from 25 yrs ago? i don't see them as a "flash in the pan" four years since their first release. but i would put them in a higher ranking than nickelback, creed, maybe even pearl jam (those were the last so called "super groups" in the mainstream market). You'd rate 3 doors down higher than Pearl Jam?
[/ QUOTE ]
honestly, probably not higher just slightly lower... now, i'm not saying they're greatest band that ever got together.
but they write great songs and they have a heavy enough sound to appeal to hard rockers. maybe it's a southern rock sound i.e. 38 special, point blank, zz top, and skynyrd that type of thing. Guitars... Rhoads RX10D

Re: 3 doors down...
.38 special, zz top, and skynard are still drawing big crowds and selling records after 25-30 years. Aerosmith, Kiss, AC/DC, Ozzy, and countless others are still big attractions. If 25 years from now, new bands are being compared to 3 doors down, then I will retract my comment. Don't get me wrong, they write catchy songs and are fun to sing along with in the car, but do they have the staying power to be called a "supergroup"? Even Pearl Jam has been around for 15 or so...although only "ten" is really worth listening to in my opinion. Pearl Jam at least can be remembered as a pioneer in the "seattle" sound. 3 doors down is just a pop/rock group like so many others who have come and gone.

Re: 3 doors down...
I think it's funny how Creed got rid of Scott (quit/fired/whatever), changed their name, put out a record and still have a hit song. I heard Mark Tremonti was taking lessons from Troy Stetina to try and become a "shredder". They still kind of sound the same though, so I guess they hit on some magic formula that causes teenagers to listen to their music.
