I also have to admidt that I liked American Psycho... Although the second one with the girl from that 70's show was maybe the worst movie ever except for killing Captain Kirk

Re: Watched SAW and The Grudge last weekend...

I am so very sorry to hear this about your parents 3333. Both of mine are still alive and have very little to do with all 3 of my kids. Realy pisses me off. If they would take time out of their carreers to smell the flowers it would be something of a shock to them as to how special their grandchildren are.

I have had this ongoing thing with my own mortality. The very nature of my job, (law enforcement) is dangerous and at times I have to see other people who have died. Every time I have to see it it blows my mind and I have a bad few weeks or more thinking about the "what if's" and how my kids would handle it if I were gone. I know it would be very hard for my wife and kids and they would have to go through alot of things they probably shouldn't have to go through, ie: baby sitters, bad boyfriends, etc. I even quit my job back in September last year to go work for a lumber co. and lasted a week before I quit. I would rather be at home in my own town to be there for my family, (very small town).

SAW is the last of these freaked out movies I'm gonna watch. Hell, when I got home just a few hours after making this post yesterday Unsolved Mysteries came on regular TV and the mystery was who killed this army doctor's wife and two daughters. They had to re-enact it complete with agonizaing screams and everything. I hate that shit!

No more. Besides, I'm starting to feel better now. Graveyard shifts kill me. I think too much and I can't sleep when I get home. I'm sure that had alot to do with it.

Uh, it was the Army doctor. He killed his own family. There were a couple books about it.

              Re: Jeffrey McDonald

Thanks Jon, sorry to hear your parents don't have a better relationship with their grandchildren. It is true about your job. My best friend used to work for the city Mortuary( about 10 years ago) and sometimes when he would have to take people to outlying towns I would go with him. You know seeing old people or "drunks" who fell asleep on train tracks never bothered me, but damn if seeing a 3 foot body bag would not haunt me for days, it really is just not natural to see. I can totally understand how in your line of work, things would not sit right with you.

                Hey Jon,

I didn't read any of these posts besides your first one here.

But I just want to rant about all these damn movies ...so why not put it here.

I just watch Saw last noight with the family. Every Friday is FFF Night...where I get baked eat Pizza and hang with the family unit watching a new comedy and or Horror movie.

Am I missing something here .. My dad , friends , you guys , all told me this "Saw" movie kicks ass. So I watched it with some high hopes of coping a little horror buzz. I was robbed!!!!!!

Again..every friday the local video store robs be of $4 for a couple new horror movies..I must be a sucker.

In the last few months I have watch The Grudge , The Ring , Boogeyman (got robbed at the movies) , The Village , Saw and every new "horror" movie made.

Am I the only one in the entire world that think all of these movies suck total ass. It is like watch a PS 2 game. You know the storyline before the game starts like to Resident Evil , Manhunt , Silent Hills 2....yada yada..I don't play these games...my little boy does.

ALL these movies share all this cliche "Marilyn Manson Video" camera tricks...the fast / shaking camera BS...

I'm not afraid of camera trickery and video games..there is nothing scary about this crap...it is all the same.

I watched the grudge...a burping ghost is not scary ...it is funny. It wasn't supossed to be funny.

I watched Saw...Once I was 45 minutes into the movie ...I didn't give a rat's ass who the killer was...hell i was so pissed off and BORED I wanted to kill everyone myself....all the horror was implied ...all the lameness was implied.

I'm more scared at the dentist's office..and the dentist is one of my best friends...

There are a few movies in the last decade that were pretty decent....Sleepy Hollow was cool...Final Destinations were "amusing"..Jeepers Creepers were "OK"..

but when it comes to horror...I'm total old school..nothing can beat the raw brutality of films like Texas Chainsaw...and the like ...NOTHING!

I'm jelous that most people can watch these movies and get "something" out of them...

                I've tried..and nuthin'

I'll stick to comedies...because Harold and Kumar and the Anchorman at least made me laugh..even more than the Grudge..

                        Re: Jeffrey McDonald

No man...I never seen that ...

I didn't know there was a movie about Ed Gein..he was the dude Texas Chainsaw was based on.

                        is it good?

The "story" to Saw was disturbing ...yes. But the disturbing parts were all left to the imagination ...well most of it.

These movies have lost alot of the human element to it...the acting in these new movies blow...I've seen better acting in 1970's porn.

I think movies like "I spit on your grave"...blows away movies like "Saw in sheer brutality and realism..

just like Texas Chainsaw...the acting made it so believable...the victims in those movies looked like "victims" and the twisted really seemed "twisted"..very good acting...so the horror ensues.

What made the Exocist so horrific at that time wasn't the gore. It was because the victim was a innocent , cute , average 12 year old girl. Linda Blair was 12 and she was EXTREMELY believable...so many people bought it...it filled churches in record numbers!

My dad took me to see it in '73..I remember the line to the movie was around the block. Then I got home late with him on a school night. I swore my bed shook ...I knew I had a friggin' devil under my bed!

Then I'd go to school and all my teachers (nuns) were obsessed by that damn movie and saw it every weekend , or so it seemed..and told me that the boogeyman is real....which warranted a squirt gun filled with holy water at bedside. I remember getting up for refills in the middle of the night !

In hindsight the movie is pretty funny ..it is one of my faves. The ONLY movie that ever scared the crap out of me....well it was sure scary to a nine year old catholic school boy / alter boy named Billy.

Hey Dude!...Sorry about the Tea man..

                              Well it's true..

Saw is a mystery...It's very similar to the vibe of seven...

The murderer is very creative...and you try to guess who the fucker is..

The movie starts with these two guys waking up in a vacant room chained. Then they try and piece together how they got there. As they piece this together the movie's plot ensues and we learn what is happening. The murderers like to play a game of making one man kill another to survive.. and he likes to teach his victims a lesson (about appreciating life). I don't want to spoil too much but it all revolves around a doctor and a patient...

there I just gave you the answer...

Watch it...I guess it is worth watching...Once

Most people seem to like the movie..

SAW was fun for a horror/gore flick. Not the greatest, but I definitely enjoyed it.

The Grudge was genuinely creepy. It wasn't scary at all.

Both decent movies, but neither one are that great. I would say you have to see them both at least once.
