oh...i almost forgot to point out that while it took the red sox 86 freakin' years to win the series, the yankees have not won a world series since their payroll has exceeded 100 million dollars.

the yankees, to me, are somewhat like a guitar made of some of the finest parts in the world, but for some reason, just don't play or sound that well when put together. mojoless, if you will.

i'll tip my hat to the yankees for having the talent in their stable that they have, but unlike pedro, they will never be my daddy!

• Re: Are we done whinning Red Sox

there is no baseball without the yankees. we support the rest of the league. say what you want, and i am used to coming under fire for being a yankee fan , but i am a real one, not a bandwagoner. i've got ticket stubbs to prove it.
the money the yanks fork over at the end of the season helps keep the league "happy" cuz it's not fair that the yankees make so much money. the smaller markets can't compete, etc. etc. etc.
let me ask this, does max factor write a check to maybelline at the end of the year because they made more money than they did? yeah right-lol
baseball needs the yankees, to fund it, and to have someone to hate.

we're going to win this year ya know?-lol
and it will only cost the yankees probably upwards of $70 million at the end of the year after the payroll is covered.
that is pretty sick. and the sox were the first to win the series with 100 million plus payroll. i forgot about the 130 million dollar little guy up in beantown-lol
if the yankees payroll hits 400 million, so be it. i root for the pinstripes, and they know it.

tommy, i'd never call you a fake fan. while i don't understand your allegiance, i respect that it's real.

my whole point is that it's interesting to me that they have many of the highest paid, and supposedly most talented athletes in baseball (juicy jason giambi, alice rodriguez, etc), but they haven't been able to make it all happen in a few years. to my eyes, they are the complete opposite of "there is no I in t-e-a-m" and don't seem to gel. but again, i tip my hat to them for their winning history, and yes, they do serve a purpose for the league in that those who don't know much about baseball pick them as a favorite team, and on the other hand, are hated by those that love the game! (okay, i'm totally pokin at you on that one) and yes, it's very easy to hate the yankees; they're the stuck up cheerleaders that we all hated in high school.

getting back to my point, to my eyes, i'd think that maybe they should work a little bit more on developing talent than throwing dough around. granted, i don't have a degree in finance, but look what the sox did with ortiz. he was developed by the sox, and has turned into the deal of the decade.

wthe yankees had a shot at him but passed him up when he was on the twins. big mistake.
sully, the yankees made over 900 million dollars off of their cable channel alone last year, steinbrenner is getting old, and he wants rings and banners now, thus the spending. and he's got more $$ than maybe the whole eastern division, possibly that is. we got tino martinez back, cuz giambi is always hurt, he will make a difference. what killed us last year, plain and simple was pitching. we let pettite and clemens get away, and did not have a lefty starter. vasquez will improve and the yanks will be a monster this season.

and yes you need chemistry, which is what the yankees had from '94 through-2001.

i've got no problem with making money, and i certainly don't begrudge them that. maybe you're right in that steiny wants rings at literally any cost, and that's what he thinks they should do. and hey, i don't mind that; i'd love to see what would happen if they went another year without a ring. granted, with rj on your side, it would seem that the final piece is in place, but i guess we'll find out.

I think the Yanks hurt themselves a lot in the talent acuiring stage to be honest. Getting Gay-rod may have been needed becuase of boone but it changed the makeup of the Team. Who is your man is it Jeter or Gay-rod? What about getting a servicable 3rd baseman and Keeping Soriano? I don't know the Ynak's seem to big name and less team and hero oriented like they were in the late 90's.

that's pretty much what i'm saying. i also think that steiny wanted to get alice to stick it to the sox. and thats fine; i sure as hell don't want him on the sox, not with the attitude he has.

tets, what's the story on frank? is he talkin retirement yet? i heard he's hurt again, and that always makes me feel bad. i always liked him; i love the fact that he's been on the team for as long as he has. the seasons when jack mcdowell and bo jackson were on the team was probably some of my favorite white sox seasons. they really had promise. i hope it comes back.

i'll take a paul o'neill and scott brosius anytime. man was it fun beiong a yankee fan there for a while.
we ogt brosiuis for nothing from the A's. jeter won the gold glove last year, something i never thought would happen. maybe that's cuz they picked up the rod, maybe not. it's a really sick lineup when you look at it, and we''ll get swingin' soriano back after this year. i love that kid. he's fukkin' phenominal. chemistry is all , along with pitching in the end. look at the marlins, and the angels, or anybody who has won in the last 4 years. diamondbacks had RJ and Schill, the angels just had the chem. going, the marlins had pitching and chem going on, and the sox had pitching . this year the yanks win, if they don't i would be surprised. in all seriousness.
