A friend's older brother imparted some wisdom to me many many moons ago when I was joking about taking his girlfriend out on a date. (I was 14, she was 24, no way it was going to happen unless we were both 10 years older) He told me to go ahead and said, "I can't make her love me. Either she does or she doesn't."

This situation is such that she is beyond even wanting to love you. Trust me, I (and the rest of us) know the pain of wanting someone you can't have, but life goes on. I've had a couple of similar situations, but when you finally meet the right person, there's no question that it was meant to be. 3 years is a long time to pine away over someone. Get some dignity, get a date, and get on with life. You'll physically make yourself sick or crazy continuing on like this.

Pop in one of your favorite bitter break-up songs (a couple of my personal favorites is "Love (I Don't Need It Anymore)" from Union or "Never Loved Her Anyway" from The Scream), grab a beer, and toast the beginning of the rest of your life.
