It doesn't mean, say things that suck are good. But something may not be your style, but still may be done very well. I don't know how judging these events goes, but going in disliking anything from X era isn't a nice way to go, I don't think.

tell that to the judges the night i played in the third round-lool. the guy i lost to said i smoked him, but oh well , it's just a contest, and i had 'em all mesmorized with a gold sparkle magic charvel in my hands for each round to spread and keep the holy name in public at the time.

No, Guitar Center produces a cd of backing tracks in different styles, and you choose whatever style you want and create a solo over it. The tracks are around 3 1/2 minutes long.

i played slippery de martini like licks over the funk track in G mostly when i did it 2 years ago. are they the same tracks ralph? or do they change 'em every year. there ere a ton of them when i recall it now.

From what I understand (I've never been involved before) they did new tracks this year, and also have the disk for sale at Guitar Center.
