Woohoo!! Got accepted!!

Well, I finally received notification that I've been accepted to the Rural Sociology Ph.D. program @ Penn State. I've waited nearly two years to get into a graduate program. Big load off my shoulders as I've been working 50 hour/week in retail management and I'm going insane.

Anyone ever go to Penn State? Thoughts?

Congrats!!!! I went to PSU from 1984-1988, and lived in State College until 1990. I have nothing but fond memories! In fact, I go back there at least once a year to hang with old friends (and catch a football game every now and then). It's a great college town, and academic-wise, the school is top-notch. (I'm sure you knew that)Yes, the weather can suck, but it's not too bad...It was worse when I went to school in Boston. Being a New Yorker, I had a bit of culture shock going to a school in Central PA, but I got used to it soon enough.

Still pretty excited about it all....been a goal for me for awhile now. Also, thanks to everyone for all the congrats and stuff. Also, yeah......I'll be studying about poor farmers and stuff [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Actually, I had a business meeting a few weeks back and had to go to Pittsburgh for a few days......and DAMN it was cold!!! I'm not looking forward to the cold weather but alas I guess it will give me more of an excuse to set inside and play guitar (or study......LOL).

i am sorry to report that I was at the Inn at Penn last month (which is in the middle of campus) and there were little to no attractive co-eds prowling around. Of course it was snowing and pretty cold and it's my understanding that the pretty ones hideout somewhere during inclement weather...but still, don't expect much. Congratulations on furtering your education but y condolences for having to live in Pennsylvania as well.

Congratulations man! My best friend graduated from Penn State back in '95. I went up to visit him one time years ago while he was in college. Being from "BFE" (Bum Friggin' Egypt) West Virginia, I couldn't believe a college campus could be so damned huge.
