I find this whole Dan Brown stuff pretty un-readable..

I tried to read it..but I just couldn't..it was as interesting as reading my Insurance policy!

Umberto Eco's - Foucaults Pendulum is the way to go over the Da Vinci Code IMO. IT is not a very fast read but far more detailed in the "spiritual" sense which might interest you.

OK I am having a hard time reading right now I have been stuck on Haunted forever. Palahinuk same thing everytime such good ideas but the execution is always off a little.

I'm reading the original "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley. It's written in a style similar to Bram Stoker's "Dracula". For some reason, I'm finding it a bit tough to get into "Frankenstein" like I did with "Dracula".

I've read all of Dan Browns books. My favorite is Stephen King. I just finished Roadwork and I am almost done with Dark Half. The Stand is next. I have read many of his books. My favorite so far is Insomnia. Deperation was really good too.

Oh, I read constantly...and have since the 3rd grade. I have read so many books I can't even remember half of them. Right now I am into Stephen Baxter. He is a great Sci-Fi writer, very educated.

JG, you need to read IT and the Dark Tower series when you finish The Stand. The Stand, IT, and the Dark Tower series represent the best of King, IMHO. Of course, if you haven't read The Shining or Salem's Lot, they are must reads as well. I am a huge KIng fan and have read every book he has written. Great entertainment.

I loved The Stand. Though I have to admit, I've only read a couple of Stephen King books. I tried reading Clive Barker and after each page I was just like:

...so I gave up on the genre altogether. Over on another forum that I'm a member of, there's a lot of hubub about Steven King's "Cell". I may have to give it another try. (I say that realizing that I've still got at least 15 books at home that I still need to read)

Clive Cussler is hard to read, unless you just want a page turner for easy entertainment.

Have you read "IT" from King? That is definitely worth investigating, as are the Dark Tower books. You will get addicted to the Dark Tower very quickly. Amazing work.

She wrote that in the year without a summer @ Lake Geneva with Lord Byron and another guest, Dr. John Polidori, came up with The Vampyre, later to become a strong influence on Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Haunted is loosely based on that idea too... Of great writing minds locking themselves up to create.

I've not read IT or the Gunslinger series, but I did read Pet Sematary. I guess I may have to get back into some of his books.

I was in H.S when IT came out. I took it to school, I read it nonstop until I finished it. I read it in 2-3 days. It cannot be put down.

I waited half of my life for King to finish the Dark Tower series....it was worth the wait. Really, good stuff.

didn't get to the end of the Cussler book. I went on a book buying binge last weekend, so I've got a bunch of better stuff to get through now.

now reading John Connolly - Nocturnes. A collection of macabre short stories.
