I read every day. Usually on the train, to and from work, and during my lunch break. Sometimes in the evening too, when I'm not on here, or playing guitar, or watching a movie.

Currently reading Stephen King's IT. I've never delved into his horror stories before, but after re-reading Insomnia recently (the only non-Dark Tower novel of his that I'd read) and noticing a few Dark Tower references, I did a bit of research online and discovered that he's been referencing the Dark Tower in his other novels for years. So I thought I'd grab a book and check it out! [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I also like Dan Brown, read Da Vinci Code & Angels and Demons last year. He's really catching on. Every day, I see someone on the train reading one of his novels. I guess it's like Harry Potter for grown ups! [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Douglas Adams. Very excited to see the Hitchhikers movie will be out shortly! Oooh, yea. Shame Doug didn't live to see it.

L Ron Hubbard's Mission Earth series, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I read the occasional sporting bio. Historical novels too - read a fascinating take on the 4 heirs to Henry VIII's throne by Alison Weir a while ago.

I also enjoy the works of Salman Rushdie, James Ellroy, Ludlum, Asimov, Bradbury, Twain.

Hey G,

If you are interested in other Dark Tower references (well, character-wise), read "The Eyes of the Dragon" by Stephen King. Roland and Flagg are both in that one.
Also "The Stand" has Flagg in it as well. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I used to read voraciously....King, Koontz, Rice, Harris, Ludlum, etc. Nowadays I'm more into the local newspaper, but Todd it seems we have common interests. Recently I've read Boss of Bosses, Angels and Demons, and Leo Gorcey Jr's autobio Me And The Dead End Kid (I'm a friend of Leo's).

Currently I'm reading The Dirt (Motley Crue). It's hella hard to put down!

That is pretty cool.
If you're on a King kick, check out the Bachman books too... King's pen name he used for awhile (as you probably know). He wrote "The Running Man" using that name. "Rage" and "The Long Walk" were excellent too... especially the latter. That one was just plain FREAKY.
Yes, I've read "It" and seen the movie... and anyone who knows me knows how torturous both (book and movie) are for me!!!!!!!!!
I can't even walk into a vid store and see the cover of that movie and not break out into a cold sweat.


The Dan Brown books... I enjoy those too. He is an excellent author, good reads. I've only read "The Davinci Code" and "Angel's and Demons", both excellent.
I heard that Tom Hanks is supposed to play Langdon in the movie version of DC. I am not going to see it just for that reason, Tom Hanks will kill the character flat. Two thumbs down from me already.

I've read everything by King. Dissapointed that the Tower series is over. Right now I'm waiting for my brother to finish Angels and Demons so I can borrow it.

Actually, whenever I tried to sit down with a book I heard "come do this, come do that" and couldn't get interested in it, so I quit even trying.

Last one I did read was Johnny Got His Gun (admittedly because of the video for "One"). I've also read the first Myst book, which, as a Christian, is a really interesting thing to read because you realize that when God said "Let there be light", He had to specify exactly HOW that light would work, as well as everything else.

Anyhoo, I have one called "The 48 Laws Of Power" written by some disgruntled former Office-type guy - basically it's his take on how to be a manager based on the jerks he's worked for. Some of it makes sense, as I've seen it first-hand (i.e. there's one that says basically that a constant presence among the workers breeds contempt and or disrespect, whereas popping in every now and then makes people scared of you - which is good and bad).

I also found a place online that has tons of old books that are now in the public domain - downloaded Dante's Divine Comedy (Illustrated). Haven't read it yet but I did go through the illustrations.

But I've seen all the old Classic Literature movies that were done back when they followed the book more than the director's "artistic interpretation", like The Man In The Iron Mask, Scarlet Pimpernel, all the Dickens stuff. WalMart has them on DVD for like $2 each - I might just get them all.

Still haven't found A Nice Morning Drive by Robert S Foster, which is the book Neil Peart was reading when he wrote Red Barchetta. I need that book to finish (start working on) a 3D animated "video" of the song - been trying for 5 years now and can't get the settings designed without the book [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Orson Scott Card is writing on Ultimate Iron Man now. I don't know if you are into comics but it's good stuff and it's still on the first issue if you want to jump in.
