Hey Ron, they may be backstabbing assholes as people, but you have to admit that's a killer album and the boy can play.

I think Sinergy is done though, so even though Alexi's doing well our friend has vengeance towards Kimberly, who no longer even has a website or forum. Funny how karma is...

You have to figure anyway, who from sunny SoCal would really want to live in Finland anyway? That'd have to get old pretty fast unless it was your homeland.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Quite the opposite, i speak to kimberly and she's saying the new album is coming along amazingly and they're not launching their new site till they have artwork for the new album.
The forum(ultimatemetal.com) was closed due to they will be hosting their own on their own site and they didn't wanna re-pay a UM subscription fee.

And whoever said CoB is black metal needs their balls in a vice.

Being as I'm somewhat new to both bands, can someone explain the situation with (what I assume) the fallout with Kimberly.

                thanks

[/ QUOTE ]If that's true it's great, but the album was supposed to be out in June of 2004 too. Also, in an era when every unsigned local band has a website, isn't it odd that Sinergy can't afford even a forum at UM, much less a website? Hell, ezboard will let you have a forum for free! Don't get me wrong, I'd be glad to see it, but as long as COB is going strong I frankly don't see why Alexi would stop his main band's momentum to work his side band with his ex. Put yourself in his shoes; would you?

[/ QUOTE ]Alexi and Kimberly met when COB opened for Dimmu Borgir and Kimberly was playing keyboards for Dimmu. They began a love affair and Sinergy was their love child, though it is officially Kimberly's band at the bottom. Well the love affair ended, but they said they'd go on with the band. What actually happened, though, is that COB took off at that time and Sinergy has been on the back burner ever since.I notice in the Blabbermouth article Kimberly says they "hope" the Cd will come out this year. That's pretty much what she said last year as well, that's why, though I'd be glad to see it, I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Follow the Reaper... Great album!

Roope stopped by the shop I was working at a few months ago and I asked him about Sinergy. He said they booked studio time back in April I think, but had to postpone is because the record company wanted a new CoB album more than a Sinergy album. Dunno what to make of that, quite a bit of time has passed and since then CoB put out that EP, so maybe Sinergy is just when the guy's get around to it instead of setting an actual date with deadlines like CoB

Kissing The Shadows has my favourite solo ever, unbelieveable.

Agreed. That's my favorite track on the CD. I just showed it to my mom (by far not a black metal fan) and she loved it. I thought it was tight that the keyboard and guitars would trade off. I wish I could figure that solo out.

Nothing super? What do you call super? In my humble opinion, they're the most talented black metal band that I've ever heard. Few metal acts period can beat that.

                        [/ QUOTE ]

Dream Theater, Skölnick, Becker, Cacophony and the likes is what I call suuuuper.

I think he puts up a pretty good fight against Petrucci.

Anyway, WTF is COB if it's not black metal? I was under the impression that black metal, most simply put, had heavy fast riffs, cookie monster vocals, and a keyboard in the background. I'm confused.

CoB don't look like pandas and I've never heared so many great guitar and keyboard solo's in a blackmetal band

the discussion about "what kind of metal is CoB" is so tiring.. I call it Bodometal :/

I personally prefer Hatebreeder and Something Wild, but FTR is definately money well spent!

If you like Children of Bodom, check out Norther, Ensiferum, and Wintersun. IMO, They're better than Bodom.

I think it's unfair to compare Alexi to some of these guys because they're all very different people.

I don't think any of those guys were as advanced as Alexi (cept Becker) at a young age? Did those guys release any albums and tour the world so young? Can those guys even sing and play so well at the same time as Alexi? Etc.

I'm sure those guys can do some things better than Alexi too but they should all be respected in their own ways.
