• American muscle cars!!!

Heck yeah! The finest cars ever made. They couldn't turn fast but who cares. What are your favorites, do you own any... Just talk about them.

A few cool quotes:
'supercars go so fast that they do not trigger those radars. Well a muscle car should be able to start from a stop and trigger the camera before the white line'
'The Ferrari enzo takes 11 seconds for the quarter mile. Some muscle cars take 9 or 10. But then if there are corners, it's a different story'

The ones I wish I could have (one very distant dream of mine: I am French and probably stuck in Europe forever :P)
1969 Road Runner hemi
1970 Dodge Challenger with 440 + 6
1967 Ford Mustang GT500KR
Chevrolet Yenko Chevelle (I don't remember the year )
And a few more of course. Us muscle fans can't disagree, the more the better.

These would be my choice, too. I've never owned a real muscle car before. My parents had a regular-issue '65 Cutlass coupe, however, that would blow the doors off of most cars today. It had a stock 350 engine, but didn't have all of the power geegaws, doodads and other crap that added weight to the Olds 442 model, and it was almost as fast. My dad says that thing was truly frightening--you absolutely could not step on the gas, since the crappy bias-ply tires would spin out of control every time. However, that car basically was just getting started at 90mph and still had a lot of acceleration left. Wish I had it today. Sadly, my parents sold it back in the day to get a '72 Olds 98. What a piece of crap that thing was! As big as your living room, and about as fast as your living room, as well!

I'm a bit young to have been around when those cars first came out but I'm also a fan. My dad had 2 GTOs when I was a kid and my uncle had a 60's Corvette.

What I'm really excited about is the return of American performance cars. The new Mustang is hot, the new C7 is sexy, the new GTO is cool and the Charger looks pretty interesting ... also anything with a Hemi is pretty sweet.

I agree a LS6 Chevelle would be damn sweet.I just think you are going to need a whole lot more than 40 grand to buy one.I think fully restored number matching LS6 car is 80,000 or more depending on options.

My dream car is nice and simple a 1968 Camaro RS/SS 396 375HP 4SPD all black.

I would also love to own a 66-67 Chevelle SS a 70 Challenger/Cuda a 69 Dodge Daytona a 69-70 Mustang fastback a 87 Buick GNX.There are few others but this would keep me busy for a while.

Oh and for a daily driver the new ZO6 Vette with the 427cid 500HP LS7.

why would anyone pay over 40K - 50k for a "chevelle"...

wouldn't you rather have a newer Vette, Cobra , Viper...most people would I think..

I couldn't tell a 40K Chevelle from a 2K Chevelle...because its still a freakin' Chevelle..they are OK I guess...I dunno..I see chevelles all over the place...are they supposed to be cool...or something..

everybody and their momma had or has a chevelle..my daddy had one long ago...he never talks about it..

I had a blue one-sold it about 15 years ago
Didn't have the pistol grip though-Auto with 3.55's and the Ralley Dash. Fast car top speed wise not so much in the quarter-rear ends are light.

Nothing sounds like the 6pack opening up-I rebuilt mine stock with a cam, Never own another to expensive now. I found mine in a field. It had been parked for 10 years had 55k on it but looked like 155. I was 18 got it for 3500 then put another 3500 in the motor then it got stolen and wrecked and I had to find another front end. Never was the same. Pissed me off so I sold it-Six pack fenders are (were) impossible to find at the time-

Re: American muscle cars!!!

I have a 1968 and a 1969 Dodge Charger. Thse are my personal favorites followed very closely by the 1967 GTO. Chevelles, Novas, they were cool, but they were EVERYWHERE. Dusters and Darts were always driven by women when I was a kid, so they seem very effeminate. Roadrunners, Belevederes and GTXs always seemed like poor mans Chargers to me. They are still cool though. And a whole lot easier to find.

Many people would rather have an old one than a new Vette or Viper. The car is almost guranteed to hold value or appreciate over the years rather than the ass fukking you take the minute you drive a new plastic car off the dealer lot. Different strokes for different folks. For me, you can't beat the beauty of old school Detroit Steel.

Hey hey. My dream car would be a 1969 1/2 Dodge Super Bee. Right now I am working on my 1973 Dodge Charger. It's tripple green with a big block 400 and I'm just putting in the new Hurst Shifter. My wife says I spend too much time and money on it...HAHAHAHAA

I used to have a '69 GTO convertible but sold it years ago. Spent three years on a body off restoration. Metallic blue, black top, off-white interior, 400 big block, auto on the floor, power everything. What a great car. My current project is a '57 Willy's CJ3B.
