What's the deal with the search function???

First you were able to search the entire JCF library of info.....then a couple months ago it was limited to only 9 months and now you can only search within the past month?? We've got a wealth of knowledge and information in these past posts that are going to be lost...is there anything that can be done to open up the search function and make the past archives available??

You can search prior to the past month.. I just searched for "rare" in the USA Jackson forum, setting the date range from "weeks" to "(empty field)" and it returned 200 results (the max. number) the earliest being 1/24/04

Unless of course you're talking about the old board...

Back to 9 months. Many of the settings got defaulted when the server fried.

J, can't you reset that? Everything's in the database, just a matter of allowing parameters I guess... [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

Sometimes you submit an incorrect search that doesn't even end up searching (say, you were looking for something older than 9 mo). I don't think that search attempt should count. After I correct my search parameters and resubmit, I get the "You cannot make another search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes." message.

I think only actual successful searches should start the timer on when you can search again. JMHO. I don't know if the software can distinguish between the 2 cases.
