Everytime the Keith is deployed somewhere SOMETHING electrical in this house has to have a fit (he's an electrical/audio engineer).

LoL, ok that was kinda funny. Try clearin out your temp files. It should help speed up your browser a bit. Depending on what browser your using, it's usually under TOOLS->OPTIONS->Delete temp files, or clear cache. Usually works for me
It sounds like you have too much running in the background. I would definitely check for spyware first.
Try Ad-Aware first. If the PC is still slow, right-click on some of the taskbar applications and see if you can set them to NOT run at Windows startup.
If they don't offer that option, there are still ways to remove them. Let's cross that bridge if necessary.

But honestly, this happens all the time and its uncanny! Just weird things will blitz out when Keith is not here. (stereo receiver, garage door, the printer... anything electrical)
