Re: New Pope Elected

Actually I would say the same things about any other religion. My religious intolerance is all-inclusive. I think it was hilarious when they had beef fat in McDonalds fries and all the hindus ate it unknowingly. I think there's nothing sillier than people wearing yarmulkes, hijabs, pagris, or whatever out of "respect to god(s)". I can tolerate those who don't proselytize or try and legislate their religion, but to the rest of 'em: GO TO HELL (pun intended). I was talking with my friends today about it, and we arrived at the more hard-line and crazy this guy is, the better. Hopefully it will turn more people off and wake more people up.

Technically that's not part of the DaVinci Code. While yes, the story centers around Mary Magdalene and Jesus being married and Mary being the "Holy Vessel" or "Holy Grail", it never mentioned anything about Jesus not dying on the cross. Dan Brown left that part of the bible's story alone. (as far as I know, not having read the bible myself)

[/ QUOTE ]
King Diamond wrote the House Of God album a few years ago about this unconfirmed story of the whole Jesus not dying on the cross and getting smuggled over to France. It's just an unconfirmed story, but a good friend of mine mentioned he heard about it, too, long before King Diamond wrote about it, and he went to Catholic school all his life. Not really sure what to believe about it, but it's kind of an interesting story either way.

[/ QUOTE ]

I was watching a special that was debunking the claims of the DaVinci Code what I took away from it was that we'll probably never know the truth due to the lack of evidence that is known. That's not to say that it doesn't exist. Dan Brown's novels may be more nonfiction than the church lets on. He does mention the Vatican Archives (Angels and Demons) maintaining documents that are detrimental to the foundation to the religion then he mentions the church's need to surpress other documents that would crumble the foundation of Catholicism. Yes Joe that was Glen Drover all over that one..

Tekky ...yes ...I think you would like it...I have a copy. Century Media is out of stock at the moment...because my friend wanted me to oreder him one..

Hey Todd...hell no offense ay all man...Capone was an intriguing dude. I know ALL about that kind of lifestyle...my father ...well he's been retired for quite some time now.

plus I'm 100 % Dago thru and thru ...grew up in Little Italy and everything..

Hey where in the hell is the Dago Pope...I thought we would get a WOP back in the Vat...WTF????!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Interestingly enough Capone hated Sicilians. The Gennas were more of a thorn in his side than Dion O'Banion. (Bugs Moran's boss before he was murdered in his flower shop, interestingly enough the shop was right across from Holy Name Cathedral)

I got halfway thru the Davinci Code...and I couldn't take anymore..

There was some interesting facts of the origins of Christianity and stuff..

But I have read so much other stuff that basically shared the same views or theories as the D.C.

Like a book called "Jesus the man"..by Dr. Barbara Thering (sp?)..

Angels and Demons would be more popular right now if it were released with the conclave and all...

Dan Brown's research is pretty weak though compared to others... He writes very well as far as a page turner and touches on a subject but has many in accuracies but a lot of compelling thoughts. Todd I'll bring Foucaults Pendulum for you when I see you if interested..

I read an article on CNN regarding a resurgence for Angels and Demons due to the current situation.

I'll have to look into buying Foucaults Pendulum. I'm sure it's going to drive Kristi crazy, I buy a lot of books. I rarely borrow books from people because I forget all too easily to return them.

As far as Brown's research goes, I can't really speak to that other than I do not follow religion, so any inaccuracies are lost on me. That's not saying that I take his word as fact, I'm more into the story than the facts.

I bump this subject up because today the new Pope was officialy installed as the Pope.

The Pope/Vatican is by far and without question, the most Powerful entity on the face of all the Earth.

We all have some insights into the behind the scenes goings on in this tread. A few thoughts.

The most powerful president of all countries is the President of the United States and he has to pay taxes.
Does the Vatican/Pope have to pay taxes? No. Who has more power? Of course the Vatican.

The Vatican of the Roman Catholic church owns and controls more land and has more power than all the countries
on the face of the planet combined and the church never has paid and has never paid taxes.
It is the ultimate bank.

The reason this particular Pope was selected at 78 years old is because the cardinals are not ready (yet)
to commit to a newer long-time leader and the Vatican's conclave of Cardinals first want to see how the balances of Wealth & Power shift and unfold within their own conclave of Cardinals & Bishops who are jockeying for positions within their own domains of power.. it was a safe choice.

If you are a World leader and want to drill for Oil or begin a war, you must get approval from the Vatican.

The Pope is about Power Wealth and Control.

Never mind the pedophilia scandals, if a world leader or even a private mega-billionaire on that high a level of Power & Wealth disobeys the Vatican.. they are dead.

To understand the history of the Catholic Church and Vatican one must first study and understand history and theology.
