Re: Heard A Good Slayer Song

I really like God Hates us all. I thought it was pretty good. South of Heaven was very good also. I appreciate Metallica for the stuff they did in the past, and hell they have me beat in the fame and fortune area, but like you Wulfe, I wish they would listen to the fans, the stuff they put out now is just junk. But it's theirs...

Metallica didn't listen to their fans, they listened to the marketing execs so they could get more radio air-time and more royalties.

that's right. "Selling out" isn't about listening to your existing fans - it's about pandering to the market solely to increase your fan base (read: profits). Hence the downtuned, Pro-tools, no-solos dreck that was St Ah-Oogah

Dead skin mask is one of my alltime favorite songs, Ed Gein and Slayer? Pure muthafuckin' evil. God hates us all rules too, that came out on 9/11. It was the perfect soundtrack to the fucked up world, thats what slayer has always been. You dont listen to slayer for the 'style' or the 'music'. Its just pure fucking Slayer. And if you dont understand that then you dont get it

Slayer fucking rule I can easily listen to any of their stuff. Favourite albums are Seasons & South of Heaven.
Big Metallica fan aswell, but the later stuff don't really do much for me. Bob Rock, you have alot to answer for

Bought Reign In Blood, still is amongst my favorite CDs. Excellent American Thrash Metal. I still cannot do the really fast vocals on Jesus Saves. I just get the words all jumbled together. Too bad they've sucked since '91.

Actually, 1985 and 1986 both were killer years for thrash all around the world. Note, I use the term thrash loosely on some of these... Slayer (Hell Awaits, Reign In Blood), Dark Angel (We Have Arrived, Darkness Descends), Megadeth (Killing is my Business...and Business Is Good, Peace Sells... Who's Buying?), Possessed (Seven Churches, Beyond The Gates), Kreator (Endless Pain, Pleasure To Kill), Destruction (Infernal Overkill, Eternal Devastation), Sodom (Obsessed By Cruelty), Exodus (Bonded by Blood), and of course Metallica (Master of Puppets).

One thing that Metallica and Slayer do have in common is that the best thing they've released in the past ten years were CDs comprised mostly of covers.

Respect? Heck no.

If sticking to the same formula for 20+ years is what you deem worthy of respect, then I'd say you have a wrong view of what selling out and going to shit means.

Those are some of the best albums ever! Dark Angel is probably the most underrated of all the bands you listed. Awesome stuff!
