Congrats to you! Be sure to remember that the wedding doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg to be what you guys - ok well she wants. Just remind the vendors that they need you. It's your money, don't let them take advantage of you!
And Todd dear, keep laughing. I could just go pick a ring for you and make you wear it forever!
Congratulations man - I couldn't agree with MrsTekky more: A wedding is about the couple getting married and should never be dictated by parents, venue etc....
I got married nearly 3 years ago, and my abiding memory of the preparations is the fact that it's easy to loose focus on the 'main event' as that becomes a given, and then you get far too wrapped up in the flowers, food etc. We had regular 'this is about us, not friends eating for free' discussions, even though we did everything we could to ensure that everyone had a great day....
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get
Congrats and good luck to you both!

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong.
That ring was totally cool. I really like it. I may have to go into hock to buy it, but it was gorgeous. Of course, I could always give you the tungston-carbide wedding ring to wedding guitar gift option!
