• Pressing Vinyl

Has anyone here pressed a 12" lately. I'm mulling over the idea of helping a friend get his new EP pressed and I'm wondering what we will need to do to get 100-200 copies pressed. Who has good or bad quality, best prices.

These would be mainly used as "shopping" material to send out to labels, and sold at shows. We would be fine with black or white cardboard sleeves and 1 color printed labels on the record.

The EP is mixed and mastered for CD right now, how much more mastering needs to be done for Vinyl?

I thought you only sent vinyl to labels when you were giving away coasters?

I know Discmakers still does vinyl but that's it.

Seriously, though, you're wanting vinyl? For what?

Sorry, should have stated it's electronic music.
Vinyl is still important because pitch-shifting CDs to match beats etc still sucks tone.
Shopping vinyl to electronic labels gets more attention in this day and age of every tom/dick/hank being able to open up reason and create a CDR/MP3.

Ah, I see, electronic stuff.

As for the attention, do electronic labels seriously consider them? I mean, I can see 'em going "Hey look - VINYL!" but do they actually open them and play them?

I don't really know. How do you get any label to listen to your stuff. Boise is a long way from all the centers of electronic music culture.

Seattle and NYC are still the two biggest US meccas for EDM/Trance/Techno...whatever ya wanna call it.

My gf is getting me into some really good Trance lately...that's how I know this! I...in turn, am turning her onto some really good hardcore/metal
