Yeah, me too. When I was a kid and that Pink Floyd song came out I couldn't believe they would actually put that on a record like that. They may "need no education" but a grammer tutor might not be a bad idea.

Re: SUPPOSEBLY...

or how about the old standby double negatives such as-
"i ain't goin' nowhere wit nobody"
"i ain't got nothin'" etc. etc.,it's quite blood boiling for me to ingest such jerkjargon. it's actually painful physically as well.

A grammar tutor might help, as well as a spelling tutor. You is a good English student.

Sorry if these have been posted, but I'm far too lazy today to read through the entire thread.

It's "sherbet," not "sherbeRt." The orange and/or lime ice cream DOES NOT rhyme with "Herbert." There's no second "R."

"Your" vs. "you're" drives me nuts.

The computer company is Compaq, pronounced "com-pack." It isn't like a "compact" car.

Quotation marks go outside of the other punctuation.
Example:

This is "right."
This is "wrong".

"u" instead of "you."

As mentioned above, "orientate" isn't a word. "Orient" is.

Here in the Southeast, we hear "onliest" in place of "only."

I'll post more as I think of them.

On a slightly more serious note.....

This butchering of the English language is also part of the Dumbing Down of America. Not only are the public "schools" failing miserably, but our modern pop culture only increases the problem. Want an example? Watch any of the current boneheaded "reality" shows. Just take your (not YOU'RE) pick. They have some extremely hot chicks running around in their (not THEY'RE) short shorts and saying things like, "I dunno, like, you know, I mean, like, yeah, I mean, you know, like, I dunno, like what-EVER!"

These young and "hip" idiots have a very powerful, yet subtle, influence on kids. Since the idiots are so "cool," the kid wants to be "cool" like them.

I think they knew what they were doing when they wrote that lyric. It was intended to be ironic.

And before Ron hits it... it's spelled "grammAr."
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking
