Thats right! I'm going to be registering for power tools on thursday. I'm looking for advice regarding what brand to register for without putting my friends/family on the street.. Any ideas?

Re: need help registering for power tools
Both those are great brands, as is Milwaukee.
If you need something a little cheaper, but decent quality, Ryobi stuff is actually very good for the money. I have a Ryobi drill, and mitre saw that have both served me well for the past 5 years or so without a problem.

Depends how much you are going to use them. If they are for home repairs/occasional use any of the less expensive units Ryobi, B&D Firestorm will work fine. Shop use Craftsman and B&D midrange(same thing really, both made by B&D) would be better. Everyday use Dewalt, Milwaukee, Porter Cable better choice. Moon's getting married so he's registering for wedding gifts. I must admit, though, I thought couples usually register for stuff like cookware, linen and that sorta thing. Since this is the case, he should register with one of our sponsoring Jackson dealers as well. My future band shall be known as "One Samich Short Of A Picnic"!

Re: need help registering for power tools
Yes indeed we are registering for our wedding. We have already done the cookware/kitchen stuff. I wasn't going to make a big deal about the kitchen stuff because she knows way more about the kitchen I do. We both know she will be in there more than me... Power tools are my category. She may use them for time to time, however for the most part I will be using them. Hence I need help registering for power tools. I think we can register at places like Home Depot, which is a nice break from spending two hours in places like bed bath and beyond...
If I can register at the with one of the sponsoring Jackson dealers... PLEASE CONTACT ME!!! Light intervened, annihliating darkness.

The "Bob Villa Law" (one week wait/cool down period) came into effect after a horribly brutal and bizzare multi homicide in Poughkeepsie happened with the suspects thought to be using dremel tools. It caused much outrage in the amish anti-power tool groups, and groups were successful in getting new power tool legislation passed...
Dammit, they'll get my sawzall when they pry it from my cold dead hands!!!!

You say that, yet you're in Georgia
I never heard of anyone having trouble with Craftsman. Maybe it's the "store brand" mentality since it's a Sears brand?
Or it's a "not-made-in-New-England" thing?
And I've never understood the whole registering for gifts thing - do they keep track of what's been bought for you so two people don't get you the same thing?I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Not originally from Georgia. Besides, being from the south does not make one a redneck. MakeAJazzNoiseHere: You kidding me? I'd suck her fartbox dry in a heartbeat. 9/29/2011 quote about Megan Fox
