Need help finding a DJ and Photographer

For my wedding. We don't really know anyone around here (Twin Cities, MN) and we need to start looking for one. What are some tips and pointers to go by when picking out a DJ and Photographer?

As far as a DJ goes, make sure he/she has the music you want. Ask for and CHECK his/her references. Sign a contract for the hours they will play, the price etc. Pay no more than 1/2 up front for a deposit. A good DJ will have lights and effects to make it more fun. JMO and good luck!
