Tonight, due to weird circumstances, my band had to practice at Sound Area, Culver City. I was told they would supply us with amps for bass and guitar. I brought my guitar(Gibson SG Special) and my BOSS TU-2(kicks ass as both a tuner and on/off switch). I got there and the amp they had for me was a Crate 2x12 with DSP and by bass player had the same(Crate).
Let me say this, I play fuckin' LOUD. Not only because I want to, but because my drummer is a fuckin inhuman monster that demolishes everything in his path. I love that dude like a brother. I would not have it any other way.
The problem was that the amps we had could not stand up one bit to my drummer's powerhouse hitting. I had my amp cranked to "10" and so did the bass player. We still sounded like weak bitches next to my God of a drummer.
That's when the Pete Townsend in me took over.
I decided (with the help of a substancial amount of Jagermesiter), that if the gear we had could not perfrom as needed, it would pay the price.
When we finished, the ride cymbal(which would not stay put) was 15 feet from the drumset on the floor, as was the floor tom, which was being a bitch as well.
I kicked over my pitiful guitar amp(a Crate 2x12 with DSP but zero balls) and my bass player's rented Crate bass amp.
I guess it's the Pete Townsend in me, but substandard gear gets fuckin' dealt with in my band!!
The downside is that I may owe Sound Area a few hundred bucks, but that's a small price to pay to not compromise your rock 'n roll!!
