10. David Gilmour-Live solo from Sorrow (DSOT);
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh god, that one probably would have slipped my mind, but you're right--that solo is unreal.
Most of mine have been listed already, but I'll add:
Steve Vai - Big Trouble (still my favorite Vai solo)
EVH - Drop Dead Legs (it's so slippery and sexy)
EVH - One Foot Out the Door (the other side of Ed--balls out aggressive)
Reb Beach - Seventeen (I just love the way this one builds--it's really a "song within a song")

Last in Line has a great solo in it.

I agree jgcable, its a blast to play too. I like that old Dio/viv stuff. Last in line, Raninbow in the dark and Holy diver were on the set list on couple cover bands I played in.

I have to agree on that. That stuff always brings out the "air" guitar when Im driving in the car. Great stuff!
I was out of line man. I had of those days where everything just sucked ..the moment I opened my eyes this morning.
I was so wired and wound earlier ...I got into it with my wife , my kid , some asshole on the phone that I wish I could rip his head off..I've been a little out of control in my personal life to be honest guys. And I'm going to get in the jackpot if I don't settle the fuck down..
I know what my problem is...which is mostly physical pain... frustration when I had to leave a job that I really liked because of what happened to my ass..I'm going paralyzed in the left hand (my playing hand) , I can't feel the strings...it feels like I'm playing with mittens on...and my pinky doesn't work anymore...but I still push myself...and I am getting better...how , I don't know.
I stay home and avoid people as much as possible to avoid confrontation and problems. I am way too easily provoked and I WILL get physical , before my brain can tell me not to...this has happened four major times this year and is a miracle I didn't get into any trouble..
So for what it worth ...I was wrong...I am sorry...
This thread IS about best guitar solos of the 80's which is a great topic..not the bullshit I was spewing..
I was just on TEN all day today...in a real bad way..
I took a couple tranqs went for a ride with my dad and realize that I got to cut this crap...not for this JCF stuff...but for me and everyone that depends on me.
So again ...you guys rule...especially my "peeps"...you know who ya are..
BTW I do have some favorite solos from the 80's..
