bad seed...I have two ruptured discs in my neck that press on the nerve to my left arm and hand..

the surgery is risky..and I don't like taking chances...I can still play the hell out the guitar without feeling the strings at all ..I don't know how but I am..when the day comes I can't play any more I'll get the surgery..

thanks dude..

STEVE STEVENS is a MONSTER...I think his best solos and tone was with Vince Neil...but that wasn't the 80's...but may as well been...that is an incredible "guitar" album that nobody talks about...probaby because it's Vince Neil..

you can always find that cd in one dollar cut out bins....shame really because I think it's a very good album..Stevens smokes on it!
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

I remember back in the late '80s or early '90s MTV News did a little bit on Steve Stevens while he was recording in his studio. They showed him absolutely wailing on some Hamer (not a S.S. model, looked like a Chaparel with graphics). It always stuck in my head how amazing he was in that video.

Of course, he is an ASSHOLE of immense proportions. I was in Manny's in 1988 and he walks in with a guitar case in hand. I am not shitting you, he looked like he was fresh off the stage with Billy. Hair done to the roof, patent leather pants...the whole deal. I was stunned and I said, "Wow, Steve Stevens...I'm a big fan!" He says, "Fuck Off, get out of my way" and saunters bye.

True story.

Great rock star story! I'll tell you mine(it's been told here before)...

I was sitting in a restaurant in Park City, UT in 1993 the day before a Robert Plant concert and my friend spies Robert and his band in a private room near the back of the restaurant. He begins to shit his pants because he is a Zep lunatic and Plant is his God. He starts humming Zeppelin tunes and gets all fidgety and my buddies are trying to calm him down, knowing what may happen...humping RP's leg.

About and hour later the band begins leaving the restaurant and Chad starts to turn red and grabs a fork. As Robert gets closer to us, he starts to sing,"Hey hey mama, said the way you moooove...." and hands the fork to Plant, to finish the line. Plant looks down over his shades and says, "would you kindly go fuck yourself?"

Good story about Plant! Of course, Page is as nice as can be. He loves New Orleans and own a house down here. I was in a local music store while in college, shooting the shit with a friend over there who was my sometime teacher. We aren't even paying attention and we hear this little unassuming guy ask for Dunlop picks with a an English accent. Both of us look up and there is Page. He was really cool to us, I think we were both too shocked to shit our pants!!

I have a friend who is a pretty famous blues guitar player. He grew up with one of my best friends. He is really down to earth and just a great guy. He calls me "Guitar Mike" or just "Guitar" (insert Coon-Ass accent when you say that), despite the fact that he could hand me my ass on the six string....funny as hell too.

Here is another one. My cousin was a famous Catskills comedian named Morty Gunty. If you like Woody Allen movies, he is one of the comedians chatting in the Carnegie Deli in "Broadway Danny Rose". He is wearing the seatcover jacket!!

Well, Morty was opening for Englebert Humperdink (really, this is true) and he gives my folks tickets to the show. After the show he takes them backstage to meet Enge...opens the door and there is the Humper himself standing in the middle of his dressing room getting a hummer from some groupie on her knees!! This was the '70s, of course!!

Englebert? My mother used to get wet at the sight of his moustache. Good story.

Bill, i had a friend who had that happen and had his surgery right before i did.We went to the park to feed the ducks like two grandpas.lol. He's in his 50's so it took him longer to recover.Keep that in mind, the older you are, the longer it will take to heal. I asked my doc if it was caused by headbanging half my life, he laughed and said no.Then again, he didnt see my band opening for Sepultura in 1989 either.lol.

Rock stars that are dicks? Blackie Balless comes to mind.

..to funny. Course, this is not just inclusive to 'rock stars', I found it can be prevalent in the local music circles as well.

"Fuck off, get out of my way"-sounds like me when I'm driving.

I always liked the solo from 25 or Six to 4. Can't remember if it was 70's or 80's though.

That would be the '70s, before Chicago became snoozeville. That guitar player is dead, he was playing with an auto pistol, removed the clip but didn't rack the slide. Shot himself in the head. Too bad it wasn't a Browning High Power, that wouldn't have happened.

One more thing, he was about 5 foot 2 without the hair!! With the hair, he probably made over six feet. It was HUGE!

Terry Kath, he was a true innovator in his own right. Guitarist, singer, songwriter.
Hendrix respected him.
25 or 6 to 4 was recorded in '69-1970. It hit the charts in mid '70 so it was probably recorded in '69.
Chicagos website has a compilation cd of Terry Kaths work that will be released featuring live and unreleased recordings.

Awesome rock story's..I can't belive Stevens is that kind of a dick...I saw hin on Stearn a while back , he's a strange bird...but a hell of a player...and I thought Alexi Laiho was a tool..

These guys ain't no big Rock Stars but I'm, hanging with Nevemore on their bus...they are sharing the bus with Arch Enemy. So Jeff is showing me around and where everyone sleeps...there is ONLY one private little room in the back and they draw straws or some shit for that one. So he opens the door to show me inside and Johan Liva is getting a hummer...and he growled just like he does on the records..."heyyyyyy what the fuckkkkkkkkkk maaaannnnnn!"...At this time Warrel walks on the bus and asks me ...HEY DUDE...you know where I gan get some good blow for our swedish buds...Jeff knows I'm a cop and starts fuckin' with Warrel , all serious lookin ' , so I go along and pull the badge all serious lookin' ..and he turns white as a fuckin' ghost ...and says ..."wha whaa what that fuck man ..Oh shit what the hell is goin' on!!!"..he was freaked!!!

it looked like he was going to have a stroke ...so I laughed my ass off , he was confuses , then relieved ..that is when I just met Warell....he's a silly bastage.

So many awesome solos back in the 80's...Greg Howe and MacAlpine kicked my ass back in the day..they both put out band efforts ...alot of blazing solos..but the song writing was cheezy but not as bad as Nitro.... hell that stuff sucked...the solos were cool...but damn that was some aweful crap!

The Scream was cool...Bruce of Racer X kicked ass...cool solos on that stuff..I really like Rough Cutt too..especialy the first album..the solos on Take Her are cool..
