That does seem like odd timing, since AE seems on the verge of breaking out and becoming huge. But if he has other interests, I can see AE's heavy touring schedule being a problem. And he didn't really "quit", he's just not touring with them at the moment.

I saw C. Amott a couple of years ago on the first leg of the Anthems of Rebellion tour, and he's a very impressive player. I'll be curious to see how the new guy does.

Haven't heard him before? Check out Dream Evil (cheesy..but amazing leads) and Firewind.

He also played for Nightrage on their first album.

Gus G is an amazing player and should have no problem playing those songs.

Dream Evil is beyond cheesy, but you are right...the leads are incredible.

Kinda sucks, got to meet Chris a few times and he's definatly a cool dude and a kickass player. But this should definatly be cool too. I've never seen Gus play live, but if he's as kickass as I hear, Arch Enemy shows are gonna be just as great

I was so suprised when I saw Arch enemy live.. I love wages of sin and I thought they could never pull it off live.. but they did. really really tight playing, great solos..

I'm sure Gus G will do fine, he's also a great player

I know nothing of the band cept I saw them open for Maiden last year, so if he wa playin with em then, he's pretty damn good. Too bad I can't stand the vocals.

Wonder how this will affect that....relationships within bands usually lead to ruin...I know this firsthand, it's broken up two of my bands in the past!
