Re: POLL: Favorite shredder of all time?

well if you put it that way, they are playing from the heart. Yngwie plays fast because he likes to express his feelings that way, some like to express their feelings by playing slowly. Some greatest blues players aren't diverse. They ONLY play their pentatonic shapes and that's it. But they are good at it. Yngwie plays what he is good at.

Re: POLL: Favorite shredder of all time?

I've heard Angelo's jazz and classical guitar stuff, pretty good, but I can't listen to him if he shreds for a long time because his style isn't for me.

Btw. I saw a Rosenberg Trio on the TV today. They played Django Reinhardt's Nuages. Cool Netherlands acosutic jazz band. The main guitar player played 10 times more difficult things that Yngwie and Angelo has ever done. It was sick, but it sounded lika a cool chill out music.

Like I said man! I never denied they play with feeling and their heart. I hate people who say shredders don't have feeling in their playing. The devotion it takes to achieve that sort of mastery of your instrument is a testimony to how much they truly love their guitar and playing it.

LOL There is no one guy who is best!

Come on! Its all personal opinion. There are lots of exceptionally talented guitarists.

There are so many styles. Ever listen to some of the 8 finger tapping dudes? They are awesome. How about Stanley Jordan - two hand tapping on 2 guitars at the same time!

Some guys are extremely expressive like Michael Schenker - other guys extremely fast like Michael Angelo. Vai is the king of tricks, etc... Who plays the blues like Frank Marino?

And for every famous one out there I guarantee you there are a hundred guys who never made it big that are just as good.

I voted for Yngwie...only because you didn't list Steve Ray or Eric Johnson.

Stevie Ray, the ultimate shredder of all time....literally...the man could tear a guitar apart while playing it to death. THAT is shredding!

Where is George Lynch on the list btw? Probably one of the best leadguitar players ever, if not THE best.

True...Lynch is is absolutely a great player and should be in the list. His best imo is, "I will remember". He does everything in that one song and does it tastefully and brilliantly. A must hear for anyone who hasn't yet.

True...incredible rock blues player. Live version of "Tin Pan Alley" is one of the best he's done and put on record. Love the tune. A must hear too.

Well said. I've seen him and he's unbelievable truly in a leaque of his own.

Schenker? He gets alittle something out of each note and the way he does it is soulful and expressive. I never get bored listening to him or Lynch.

Randy? He opened many doors for the guitarists ou there today. He introduced that classical sound to metal and he too was in a leaque of his own, definitely light years ahead of anybody at that time.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
