• My band is playing an outdoor benefit June 24th

My band is playing three hour or so long sets at the Relay for Life American Cancer benefit in Tulsa, OK on friday, June 24th. It's outdoors, all ages. No beer either, which is going to be a change for me. I don't get ripped every time I play, but I tend to enjoy an adult beverage or two. Oh well.

Location is at the Tulsa University campus, 6th and Delaware. Look for the tents and the tiny stage. We're playing from 6-7, 8-9 and 11-12. Should be a fun time, plus I love playing outdoors. Plus it's a good cause. C'mon out if you're a tulsa area JCF'r and come see me play an ESP

Thanks man! I'm hoping they like 80s metal and hard rock... because that's all they are going to get.

Good luck with the gig Pete. Hopefully you will have great weather and get a great mix outdoors...

Just get you a 7-11 double gulp with a lid and straw with your fav drink.

Yup, nothing like a jacked coke or something.

Outdoors is nice, stagelights suck after a while. Too goddamn hot.

Hope the weather's nice! Be sure to bring along an emergency plan so that you can get your gear in a safe place should it start to rain or something.

Sounds like a cool gig Pete, have fun. Drink a lot of water especially for that first set, still will be hot in the late evening. The only thing I never liked about outdoor day gigs in the summer is the heat

Congrats, Pete

We just had our Relay For Life shindig last weekend - two guys from where I work showed up drunk and were hauled away by the cops. The HR chick was piiiiiissed for sure, because they were wearing Company Logoed shirts, so everybody else knew where they were from

I didn't go to the event, but a couple of chicks I work with did. They sang a song a-capella (don't know which one) and got 2nd place behind some guy from another company whose girlfriend/wife was one of the judges

And one of my other co-workers sang and played a guitar as well, but one of the chicks mentioned that he woulda done better if he had brought his own guitar. One guy (non-musician) asked if it really made that much of a difference, and they were like "yeah it's like the difference between your car and someone else's", and I said "more like underwear"

Same guy told one of the chicks as they were leaving for the show "break a leg", which is, of course, a traditional "show biz" term for "Good Luck" (because "Good Luck" is Bad Luck )
They got there a little later than expected and as they were running across the parking lot, she fell and busted her shin and ripped her pant leg open, so they had to run back home and get her a new pair
Man, she was pissed at dude for telling her that

Anyway, instead of trying to sneak a beer, take a few deep breaths and hold them, then let them out - act like you're toking, but don't toke. Same relaxed effect without the pesky Police thing

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.
