Re: Bringing dogs back to life after 3 hours of death

Plans to test the technique on humans should be realised within a year, according to the Safar Centre.
However rather than sending people to sleep for years, then bringing them back to life to benefit from medical advances, the boffins would be happy to keep people in this state for just a few hours,
But even a this should be enough to save lives such as battlefield casualties and victims of stabbings or gunshot wounds, who have suffered huge blood loss.

What's wrong with that?

Certain members of the US Goverment (who will not be named in order not to turn this political) will say this is wrong... I think it is scary just because it is an unknown but I can't argue right or wrong on this...

Folks these are *dogs*. We test cosmetics on bunnies, grow organs in pigs, carry out all sorts of terminal experiments on rats & mice in labs. What's the difference?

It challenges people's beliefs. The whole justification is that a lot of folks think that when you die your spirit goes up to heaven or whatever. By basically accelerating someone's death or doing this to someone recently dead and them remaining that way, it challenges a lot of notions people have about the afterlife. The ironic thing is that in theory this is the equivilant of a defibrillator that can be used to revive the victim a hours, days, or even longer after they've been dead.
In addition to those belief issues, there is going to be a lot of debate about exactly what the effects of this are on the brain. This will have to go through quite a bit of testing before its an accepted practice, so I don't see it happening in the near future, but the concept behind it does challenge the norm.
The usage of 'zombie dogs' combined with the image of the crazy looking dog/wolf shows the bias of the article.
I don't know what to think of this. More research would be neeed, for me to really formulate an opinion.

Brad, You're kidding right?

Nope, not trying to stir the pot here or start a huge debate but in my personal opinion this is an easy call. In order of importance I'd rank humans and animals as follows:
1. Humans
2. Animals
In my estimation that's really all there is to it and I say that having been a dog owner pretty much my entire life.
